"Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam" on that Nivana unplugged album.
And Rufus Wainright's version of "Hallelujah".

"Zombie" by The Cranberries
Probably the most notable one for me personally. That song depressed me even before I paid any attention to the lyrics.

"Little Fluffy Clouds" by Orb. Maybe that's a strange choice, it's not really a sad song, it just makes me feel so small and a little sad for places I've left behind.
+1 on the Achtung Baby.

"new jerusalem" Palace
"new partner" Palace
and it's pretty sappy but "Gemini" by Why? is pretty bitter sweet for someone who's on tour all the time (like me)

Pictures of you - The Cure
Insensatez - "it's by one of the brazillian titans, but I don't remember specifically who, ok"
Also, Insensatez is not originally eletronic in any way, but since it is brazillian... and you know brazillian musicians: everything that you ever thought about doing, the have already done it two years ago
the saddest+most_inspiring_ever is acoustic though: "Quien Fuera" - Sylvio Rodriguez ...
But that is cuban, and it will be some decades before they can take that into the general house-ish, funky hoppy side of things...
