Great Idea

I think it would be good to have a way to identify registered users but, I'm not sure losing "guests" completely wouldn't make it all a bit dull. The forum generally does a good job of moderating itself, it's nice to get away from boundries or some system of "governing". Sure you get a few tossers and I'm sure everyone's posted something in the heat of the moment that they wish they hadn't but generally, it's pretty good.
I love the way people from different parts of the world can freely discuss ideas here. It's good to talk about other things that music, music is something we all have in common else we wouldn't be on this forum at all, so despite our differences we can discuss other things on a pretty even table.
I think this is a great forum, an awful lot of people seem to agree. It's just getting busier, that's all.

preach it, Martyn. The forums are fine. There's clearly a lot of pent up anxiousness from a LOT of people checking here at every chance to see if 4 is out. It only makes sense that some of this software blue balls (or should it be green in honor of ableton?) has led to some colorful posts. Rest assured, when 4 drops, people will be much busier using it and posting about it, rather than visiting here every 30 minutes and drinking LOTS of water.

I think a registered users only forum would be ideal, but at the very least disable guest posts.

nicely put - i agree, I have thought at times that the DJ WIldstyles of this world could be more useful somewhere else, but alot of the times the guest posts are funny.
And to me it seems a bit territorial, i mean it's not that bloody hard to just scroll past the noise
