People do not go to movies and get bored because the actors are not acting out for them "live" in real-time.
They accept that the nature of film is too complex to do live. They enjoy it as pre-recorded and edited theater. With that said there is still some value in watching it with other people in a specific public setting.
The same can happen with electronic music.

I go to concerts to hear the band stretch out, take songs I like and change them up a bit, at best there's a connection between the crowd and the band that comes out in the music.
at worst you walk away from a concert saying "that sounded just like the CD", BOOORING!!!
I saw underworld Sat night, freaking great show. they were just launching loops of long sections of their songs but there was a build up, breakdown and blending of them that made them sound new, not to mention Karl Hyde out front singing, dancing and connecting with the audience. it was also amazing to hear songs like cowgirl and king of snake played REALLY loud. btw the new shit sounds GREAT, one song reminded me of 'lovesong' by the cure, another had a sound like that old industrial tune "catch the man"

Go to Trucadero on Wednesday nights (if they're still doing their famous S&M nights)...they'll play this shit...nothing quite like a sexy she-male in a nun outfit dancing to this song making you question you own gender/sexuality....aaah college....Tone Deft wrote:THANK YOU!!! that's been bugging me, goes back to my early days of clubbing, cool tune.nebulae wrote:Front 242 - Headhunter

the Troc!! yeah, I used to hit the Trocadero for bondage a go go every week, before I got old and boring. did you ever hit up The X back in the day? or the Edge, or the Palladium pre-~90 when it got cheesy? those were my haunts back in the day. oh, and Death Guild and Kings St Garage... I'm just not into the club scene anymore, I used to go out clubbing until 4am in the middle of the week, and still make it to work with no consequences.nebulae wrote:Go to Trucadero on Wednesday nights (if they're still doing their famous S&M nights)...they'll play this shit...nothing quite like a sexy she-male in a nun outfit dancing to this song making you question you own gender/sexuality....aaah college....Tone Deft wrote:THANK YOU!!! that's been bugging me, goes back to my early days of clubbing, cool tune.nebulae wrote:Front 242 - Headhunter

LOL, that place smells like sex...it's really bizarre. I went with a gay friend...he went upstairs to the gay hook-up, and it only cost him $10 to get in. I went downstairs to the straight hook-up, and unless I wore a toga/towel, it was $75! I figured anything was worth checking out once...so I paid and went in. We decided to meet up in about an hour back at the entrance. What happened inside is totally surreal:
There were closed off rooms with windows so you could peak in and see what was going in. Then there were dark corners where people were fornicating. And there was a guy, naked, just walking around masturbating. The whole thing was like a bad orgy movie.
Anyways, I met up with my friend at the end of that hour. He was like "How did you do?" to which I replied, "Dude, I'm married...I was just watching...how about you?" to which he replied "I got six blow jobs." The damn gays have all the fun.

my friend that went was also gay, he got picked up, given the tab of acid and they ended up there, short date. yeah, that kinda fits in with what I've heard, the human animal at its most base. it probably has more mystique having never been in there. it's kinda in my neighborhood, I pass it whenever I drive downtown, we always make jokes about it and often there's the most mild mannered looking unassuming tiny asian girls walking out.
