The box itself doesn't cost $120 bucks. =)

The box contains a printed version of the manual (everyone else gets a PDF). It also includes EIC2, a 13 gigabyte sample library. In addition, it includes Ableton's new Session Drums, which is 24 gigabytes of multisampled drum kits.

It's worth it in my opinion. Reason's multisampled drum kits are $100.

Neb, I was just thinking about you this morning - did you buy that replacement battery for your ladies iPod? How did you make out with that?

The pricing calculator isn't working for me but from reading these posts I hear only a $20 discount for sampler? I suppose I can expect a ax of EUR40 for both sampler and operator.

So I now think that the 'sweet point' is going to be just the plain vanilla upgrade for me. The extra instruments don't seem that exciting - nice, but not worth that much money tbh. I have operator, sampler, an array of other vsts, plus logic studio. Can't see any need for more personally.

The main program upgrade looks nice though, the drum rack looks great, especially with being able to drag vsts into it. Dunno if it will completely replace Guru for me though.

I am looking forward to giving it a test run. :D

i really hope they include Operator and Sampler as part of Live. It seems crazy to have to pay extra for something so important to a program like Live. (talking mostly about sampler)

education upgrades from 5? I don't think the online personal calculator prices it that way.

It's annoying that you get barely any discount for operator and sampler. I assume that I can unlock sampler and operator in version 7 with my current serial numbers. I think tension looks cool as hell. I guess I'll buy the download suite just for that (at $299, it's the same price as buying the upgrade and tension by itself)

Analog- hmm - I have more virtual analogs than I can shake a stick at.

Electric - not too into old keyboards

drum machine - kind of cool, but I have more samples of old drum machines than I know what to do with.

session drummer - No interest whatsoever. I have bfd and never use it. Don't want to decide where to place the mics and I dont need all the different velocities. I don't think most ableton live user would use this.

eic2 - hmm - got eic one so I don't know.

The orchestra collection looks kind of cool. I always wanted to own a nice orchestra collection. It's not included in any of the bundles so maybe later on.

I agree. It seems as though you should be eligible for a bigger discount if you already own Operator and Sampler in terms of the Suite.

I'm still in though. Live 7 has some nice new features.

Um...not so sure about that. It's kind of like Live and Logic have completely switched their pricing schemes over the last few years.

But just imagine if you took the bait for the recent sampler discount!!

That is plain mean.

I wish I had taken the bait. I bought it 7 days before the sale at full price.

So what's the USD if you own Live 6/Operator/Sampler and want to get the suite download or box?

I think because my Operator was bought used, it's not showing up on the discount.

What you said is true, but what happened with Logic's price is hardly the norm and you cannot hold other companies software to that standard. Ableton is not selling millions of iPods and iPhones for 300-500 bucks a pop, or tons of Mac's to make up for their cheap software.

totally true - Apple are dumping their prices, and I personally find that to be very bad form... I am convinced that they are losing money per sold Logic8, not including the sold apple hardware.

$299 for the download suite
$419 boxed.

I don't think that takes eic 1 into account. I never added it and so I added it today and everything is listed under license 1 except eic which is listed under license 2. I don't know what that's all about. Maybe it thinks I bought it after October 1st, but I unlocked it a while ago.

Just thinking

live 6 to ableton suite box upgrade = 399 euro
my individual price (already own operator and EIC) 359 euro
discount a measly 40 Euro! - that is quite upsetting - bloody glad I didn't fall for the sampler sale a few weeks back

Anybody want to buy an operator and eic license - offers invited over 40 euro.

ps

Christ on a bike, the orchestral stuff is a tad pricey
