yea that was the first thing i thought when i saw the Drum Racks vid, but no, the beta doesnt have any track grouping options. maybe it'll make the final version..
the in-line mixer is different than folder tracks - think of it as a way to view a rack. You can view normal instrument racks that way too, not just drumracks
yea i see that, but it seems to do what we've been asking of folder/group tracks; individual efects on each track in the group, plus group master effects. surely they can't NOT include groups now! its already there, almost

Gah had to do a frickin' hard reboot! That is sweet! That was a real annoyance but... yes! My tired brain is not seeing all the possibilities but ... could you do it as groups??? I'm gonna find out...

about the 128 parameters thing: <edit> I can't find more than 128. Maybe I'm just dumb though.

Autofilter has received some work, it now uses interpolated values when you map directly to the filter cutoff... it used to be all jaggy when used as a wah. The envelope and lfo are smoothed too.

Also , now it is bi-polar, so envelopes can go negative on a signal - which is pretty useful when combined with side-chain.

@ Garyboozy: Exactly what I was thinking. At the moment I'm not sure that I'd bother with the upgrade but folder tracks would be one extra gold star on the messy painted Ableton pinafore...

What about the 128 recordable midi automation parameters. Are there more in Live 7???
Sorry - just confirmed with Bidule that Kontakt 2 vst has 512 parameters but only 128 show up in this beta.

My maxMSP app already has over 2000... 512 is nothing.

Yah the annoying thing with Kontakt (v.2 anyway) is when you open up a preset from the library you discover that none of these are fecking mapped to anything! So you have to go through the whole thing and map them yourself. I did it recently. It's not fun.

Back on topic: Did you notice there is an option to 'Rename plugin preset' in VSTs? Even in ones which just show up as 'default' i.e. Live cannot cycle through its presets. Interesting...

meanwhile... back on topic...

drum racks are SOOO well done!! large variety of mute groups, EZ to layer drums, break them out, nice visual rep of what's filled in and the rackable potential of them is stunning.

what the sample engine part of the drum rack though ?
do samples get loaded in simplers ?
what kind of glabal/specific options are there ?

you can choose what you want the slices to load into, sampler, simpler, whatever. it's all configurable.

totally agree with that. Right-clicking any instrument also gives you the context menu option "group to drum rack" for starting a percussion "group" if you will. Very handy way to collect all your little synth bits into one midi-clip and track.
