ok, I do not need those plugs since I have the AAS modeling collection bundle... but I just want to know if thos plugs sounds exactly the same as AAS's do or you feel they're easier to program.. or what???? Hope someone who have AAS and is testing L7 can tell me something... I'm too curious
Anyway... I can't understand why people want Live to become in 1 day Logic/cubase/digitalperformer/protools/whatever just to what? make better music?? naaaaa.... People already have too much, that's why they want always more....

Be happy with what you have

If you like L7, well buy it (I will) if you dont... your choice....
By the way, sweetjesus... loved that sound mate!
Thanks, cheers to all.

can someone explain what a virtual analog synth means? i'm guessing operator is NOT?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fm_synth
operator - fm synth
analog - analog synth (virtual because computers don't use true analog signals.)
read up a bit

Yeah. And color-coded cells. Makes finding your way through a large kit easy. Plus, just a generally nicely-planned GUI. The workflow of building a kit in Battery is just wonderful, at least for my tastes. Also, Battery has proven incredibly stable for me. A lot of peeps do have issues with it, but it's fine for me.
I should note, though, that I am not a beta-tester, so this is coming from someone who has yet to actually USE drum racks.

i read up the info tonedeft, but its just words on a page to me. so i tried out the demo, and compared it to some patches on operator from covert operators and pure magnetik, and to tell the truth, i cant hear the difference really between what is considered virtual analog and fm. i know what the different potential is for operator, but when comparing lead patches from the two, i dont think there is so much more to the aas virtual analog .
maybe im wrong because i havent had much time to play with it.
i wonder if i upgraded to the suite, if ableton will let me sell the virtual analog plugin seperately

OK, I'll take some time...
the key is that FM is "oscillators oscillating oscillators", analog is not.
look at Analog
it's 2 oscillators that run through a filter, an amplitude section and out the master. you can mix the chains together a bit, send OSC1 to OSC2's filter and whatnot but the oscillators stay relatively pure.
look at Operator, check the routing section.
now you see that you can make OSC A oscillate OSC B and OSC C etc. what you have is Frequency Modulation, the same science behind FM radios, one signal gets modulated by another.
the term 'virtual' for analog started because analog synths used to be ANALOG, there was an analog circuit that spit out an analog sine wave (or triangle or square), old school stuff that would drift with temperature and whatnot. then synth makers started making analog synths with 1s and 0s, this was good because they wouldn't drift and stuff but a close look at the outputted oscillator showed it was no longer a purely analog signal, it had little steps to it. I assume you know where I'm coming from, how digital signals look like steps, they're quantized.
the sounds of FM vs. analog are different styles, read those wiki pages for ideas on which synths had which sound. those are the two main kinds of synths, then there's wavetable synths and I'm probably forgetting a type or two but those are the main ones.
hth.

respect tonedeft. that was really helpful explanation. i will definetly look into playing more with analog (or aas va demo until then).
i got a feeling i am going for the suite update after playing with string studio and loungelizard....

nebulae wrote:I think Analog is nice for someone who doesn't have a top class virtual analog. However, I don't think it's as good as Sylenth1 by any stretch. Now the integration with Live is a big selling point, but if I had to pick between the two, Sylenth1 for sure. My two cents.
Good to know. I was initially really excited about the new instruments, but that is fading. With the money saved by not getting those, I could get a Tampax padKontrol for the sweetazz drum rack!

why not just make an operator rack using two operators? then you could turn off oscillators B,C,D on both instances, and youd have two independent oscillators (one can be sine, one square or whatever you want)
if you want one filter for both, just add a filter device to the end of the chain, and if you want the filters seperated, just use the seperate filters in each operator.

he made a rack that auto-generates big beat, tarnce and polkas.
