This has been playing on my mind for several minutes now.

Does anybody else consider that to be a strange question to ask?
not really

is there some huge difference between 89.96 and 90 in terms of repitch mode? I mean can your ear be bothered by .04 difference in pitch? maybe so,

anyway I think you misunderstood one of the other suggestions above. if you set the range of the master tempo envelope accordingly, then you can drag breakpoints accurately without punching in or assigning controllers.

all these methods were incorporated into the live wiki, but I think that may have been destroyed by spam bots (?)

I'm glad you have asked this question.
I offer no work-arounds, but feel much better knowing that other users are being frustrated over such a simple and important function.
I thought it was just me not getting it. Not a good look Abes.

Has this issue been resolved in later editions of Ableton?

Nope, it has not. I don't get it. For such an advanced piece of software that is very dependent on rigid time grids, I cannot understand why this basic function has not been implemented since the very beginning.

I like the thread title, I'm sorry we have to suffer through these little niggles.

Numeric editing: +1000.

Should not only be for automation, but for parameter changes, etc. For anything basically!
