This is great.....change is coming at long last! I've been voting/waiting for this downfall for a long time. JWH losing his seat would be the icing on the cake.':D'

sadly i think average joe redneck will still treat aborigines like something they scraped off their shoe. hopefully it will make the way for reconciliation easier, but it's a complex issue (one that i have absolutely no expertise in).

however i sincerely hope it starts with this.

i'm curious to see how many seats the greens won this time round.

looks lika Labor got in on their prefs in a big way - the Tasmanian pulp mill had a lot to do with it

I would like to say though, that I am entitled to my views and politically I do tend to sit in the middle with leanings to the right. But hey, I am all for the rights of the worker and better social conditions etc…. So I hope you don’t all think I am some kind of right wing fascist because I am far from it. Actually, I tend to vote for the greenies anyway.

But it seems that Howard lost, so congratulations to all those who voted him out. You got your wish. Let’s hope that economically Australia doesn’t slip and allows unions with unreasonable demands run the country.

it was actually quite sad seeing Howard's concession speech - very gracious

Rudd's a funny one - it will be interesting to see how government changes him

but I think they could do a lot of good things and they are much more focused on the future than the past which is a good thing

absolutely right

but at least the voices in the back of their heads will be pulling them to the left not the right

mainly why I care is I'm back in the Tertiary education system and the Howard govt did a lot to ruin that, while Labor was historically pretty good with it

climate change is another one - this new mob actually seem prepared to look at it while Howard wasnt

definitely lesser of two evils I think - we have to have someone in and I'd rather this lot just like I'd prefer Democrats if it was the US because they'd be less likely to start wars etc - not saints, just less damaging

in the end i voted mulcahy as he had a staunch pro DJ Albury Wodonga Shopping Plaza green field nuclear mandate and also used to piss himself reading these messages looking at the poor misguided unfortunates who really believe labo(u)r is different to conservative and that your vote is actually worth shit
