Go listen to your shitty rnb and pop music. Trance is love music in its own
right. It doesn't destroy young people like RnB and rap does. Gives them this stupid attitude. One day they'll find out they are bums and i'll laugh, because i didn't listen to that kind of music.

I didn't mean the above, im just pointing out its stupid to criticize a whole genre. You can critizise single tracks and artists, thats fine, but taking a whole genre you probably haven't even given a good listen is just dumb as fuck.
The statement that trance is love music in its own right is true though..

Well c'mon now...DJing is really a completely different monster than a live P.A. Of course Trance is not turntablism...it's about playing to the crowd. If the crowd is really really diggin on a tune, you let them have it for a bit. And I'm sure he was exaggerating about 8 minutes.
Finally someone with a bit of sense in this thread :)
I was at tiesto's elements of live tour where he both plays tracks by himself and others, and i'm still amazed how he could move the crowd. If you haven't been at such an event you can't comment it :)

AND NOW I AM AT IT, take something else then. Rihanna.. Sugarbabes? They don't even write their own fucking lyricks they just sing and dance. What a bunch of crap you let out.

IN CASE you think i only listen to trance i'd like to say my set of favorite artists ranges from classic to all kinds of rock, to all kinds of electronic (including trance, yes), basically. As for rock, i'm a bit favoured to older bands like Queen, instead of the newer ones though. I don't base my favorites on specific hate and love genres. Yes i even have RnB and hiphop artists on my list! And rappers/mc's.

allright hope you get what i try to point out :)

Since i say fuck trance, you assume that i like listening to shitty r&b and pop? Not even close...Sorry to get you all worked up man, it was a silly thing to say, just not really a big fan is all, and i see lots of fun gets poked at it around these parts, so i figured id join in...You gotta admit though that those pictures of PVD on the mac page were set up to make him look like a pop star, no?

Well the thing about r&b was just because its a normal sentence i hear from people who listens to RnB just because its POPular (they also call trance techno.. what do they know anyway eh)

Listening to a certain genre because its popular..
Same goes for the "thats an old track" sentence.. Oh yeah its old? so what, twat :P

I'm also not a fan of PVD or anything, but saying that trance sucks because you don't like his stuff for example isn't nice hehe
That said, i'm open for anything. I also enjoy house and experimental stuff, as well as Dire Straits and Rammstein.. so all the way around actually.

Now if i were to make a dj set it would be a weird mix of rock, trance (anthem?), hard house, club trance, pumpin' house?, 60/80 oldies, oldschool hiphop, experimental/minimal house, trance again etc :p

to mention a few genre's i'd grap hehe

So what are you into then?

We actually share the same thoughts on the subject :)
and btw for those who misread me, i never called PVD or tiesto
great musicians or producers. I defended trance, not them..
(and still do mr tarekith)
thought you would like that
First i was completely confused of where the .... the thread was, until i discovered a suspiciously large thread with an unholy(eheh) name... :P

Take a joke man.

I spun tarnce for years and had to endure ribbing from all my other DJ friends for it, it goes with the territory. They even went so far as to make up T-shirts that said "fuck trance" on them and wear them to my gigs (All in good fun).

You never saw me telling people to suck my dick though. If you like something, keep on liking it no matter what people say. Childish rejoinders just encourage more people to poke fun at you.

Luckily I eventually saw the light and realized how much tarnce and it's fanboys suck.

I did wonder if i should add a smiley to my respond, but then the time came where i could go home from work hehe

Yeh well, i know its fanboys stuff, but i actually perform better when listening to trance. For example when it comes to programming i just pounder on line by nice when on 'trance'. Its not just the fast beats, its the melodies [i talk about uplifting trance here. Or sad trance?] that really affects me. (A track like Lange feat the morrighan - follow me. I know its an overrated track according to some, but it does have a huge impact on me, hence i stick to it :) )

While I love many different genres, trance is the one where most tracks exist that are able to affect me. I suspect me to be more affected by melodies than beats or lyrics, hence some heavy-melody based uplifting trance kicks me in

I'm an acoustic/electric string player learning to produce my own stuff with Live.

I appreciate lots of genres, but my only critisism of "Trance" music is calling it "Trance." As if no other type of music or sound has the ability to educe altered states of consciousness . . .

But that said, I'm long over grumbling about it. Too busy making music.
