Williamsburgh has been invaded by <cough> hipsters. (How the hell did this generation ever co-opt that term?)

Seriously, just enjoy the fact that wherever you go, you'll see people from all over the world. Maybe you'll even see some New Yorkers...

And, since you're into Live:

I can't understand people who complain about hipsters.

Let me give you the cold hard facts:

The majority of people you will meet in this world are fucking morons or just boring.

When you meet someone who is genuinley talanted at something, a really great honest personality, always great in conversation... etc.. Hang the fuck on to them, because you just got LUCKY.

now, given that most people are shitty, would you prefer to be around shitty people who are corporate america type shitty, redneck shitty, religious zealot shitty, or a hipster? Uhhhhhhhhhmmmmm, my choice is easy on this one, the fake hipsters have hotter girls, hotter guys, and are probably a good part of YOUR AUDIENCE.

Bring on the hipsters!

Cheers, I'm really liking the idea of Pacha.
Pacha always checks my ID plus scans it with this silly scanning thing. Yeah man if you can see Jonathan Peters man do it! He is cool 1. Have you ever seen his dj booth? It's basically a professinal production studio in a dj booth. All his shit weighs 900 pounds! 2. He rips it so much man. He will play stuff you never herd and mite never hear again. His vibe goes between like techno that makes u rock the eff out and he will go into some vocal stuff and some minimal stuff. But its crazy how he mixes man. (hahaa im getting chills down my spine just thinking about it!)

omfg most hipsters are that way because they're empty but can follow the herd. form over function, fashion over substance.

geeks are where it's at. people who don't give a shit about hip, they just get out and fucking do it.

if someone spends that much time forming their image they're not spending the rest of their time actually doing something.

the hipster thing in SF has been the heroine sheek, white trash early Bowie era super strong coffee drinking mac using locked hub bike riding drainpipe pants wearing fucked up hair thrift store clothes wearing annoying little white boy thing. check out 'Ritual Roasters' on 22nd and Valencia, bring a hand grenade or two.

fickle, fake, whatever.

i'd rather be around fake people who pretend to be into something interersting to get laid/look cool or whatever it is they want than be around "real" people who aren't into shit.

I don't give a shit as long as they keep paying the cover at my shows and blowing me in the bathroom.

Oh mah goodneth, lm - don' be hatin' n whatnot.

Actually, the self-described hipsters are the very morons of which you speak. Give them another 10 years and they become loathsome corporate douchebags. Talented people need no labels and they rise up in every age, without fail, to bring innovation to society.

Disclosure: Both my wife & I have ties to Williamsburgh that go back to the 1920s when our respective families moved out of Manhattan. Mine to the Jewish south side, hers to the Italian north side.

Full disclosure: I am a loathsome corporate douchebag.

oh, no, i heard you.

I'm saying that the productive "geeks" that you refer to are in the minority. Hang on to them. You aren't going to meet one of those every day. Now, me, for the stupid people i'm going to meet every day i'm going to take the stupid hipster (who as i've said, might turn up a paying customer at a show or get me high/blow me) over most other fuckwits.

it's a pretty simple choice. You can have whatever super-cool more hip than hipster attitude and that's fine. It just doesn't make much sense to me.

I don't think of it as more hip than hipster, I just don't care to play. I take people as they are, when I find purely hipster types I tune out. there are hipsters who are into some cool shit, most are that way just to be in the scene. I'm also 35 and married so I'm not out to find chicks and all that either. all this reminds me of that max class I took, 6 people and I was the only one not talking about myself, I was the only one doing the 'homework', come to think of it, I was also the only one not using a Mac, go figure.

I'm not the type that needs to be around people, some people need to be around others, I prefer activities. as I'm sure you can tell, I'm not really a people person. a lot of that is why I like this forum, interesting people who are into the same stuff as me.

omfg exactly this guy, he works at Trader Joe's.
