In that Ableton developer recruiting video which did the rounds a few months back, there was a lot of focus on audio visualisation. Different teams appeared to be proposing different visualisation and interaction strategies for consideration.

It's possible that somebody in that dev funfair of 3d spectral rainbow plots has pitched a simple goniometer and an oscilloscope. That's a possible thing I guess.
However, Live 10 is scheduled for release on 2027, so don't hold your breath.

Dead simple to customize.

I understand so. But in this case

where
 is my lethargy
8) is the marginal utility of a differently coloured oscilloscope, and
:x is the hassle of having to start learning how to program M4L

you don't need an oscilloscope, you need a spectrum analyzer, which is called SPECTRUM in Live 7.

max - you should watch the videos here
http://www.ableton.com/movies
you're asking good questions and a lot of them, I think you'll get a lot out of them.

as a new user remember to always leave the HELP BOX open in the lower left corner.
READ THE QUESTION !!!! The guy is not an idiot, he says he need an OSCILLOSCOPE not a spectrum analyzer...
Scope is useful to see oscillators signal fluctuations, and to see saturator or compressor action on the signal shape and amplitude.
You have a free vst oscilloscope by MeldaProduction (https://www.meldaproduction.com/MOscilloscope) and or you need MaxForLive to use the FREE Studio Tools 1.0 pack from maxforcats that include an oscilloscope for ableton :
