I found the NI Reaktor instrument Echomania quite good and dirty! Try it!

Ah yes Reaktor, that program is so deep you sometimes forget whats in there, thanks for the suggestion.

has anyone mentioned TAL-DUB-II?

a good freebie delay you can get here, although not exactly a tape delay:
