So who in electronic music can rock an instrument like Jimi? What instrument exclusive & unique to electronic music is equal to a guitar?

I do not think I'd get as excited watching someone "rock a lemur" as I do watching Jimi live at Monterey. I don't know if there's someone or a device that can be considerered equal. Probably has to have some level of personal expression to it. So yeah, maybe a lemur, one of those Alesis Air FX and a Kaoss pad and standard keyboards of course. Anyone know anyone who can use these with Jimi Hendrix proficiency? I'd really like to see it. (Not trying to be a smartass).

Fair enough. I guess I was thinking more on the grounds that they carry a high level of proficiency in their specific craft: attention to detail, taste, sound palate, swagger, quality of output over their entire catalogue, etc.

But of course there is subjectivity...

and +1 to Prefuse 73 too.

Liam Howlett is IMO the closest we have to an electronic Jimi Hendrix, at least for his first three albums. But you know the Prodigy If there are any of Prodigy Experience, Music for the Jilted Generation and Fat of the Land that you don't have, get them. They are all different and encompass so many different styles.

In terms of stuff that's good, I second the Orbital suggestion (some of it).

I'll add Hybrid, if you like trancey breaksy stuff produced with as much care and attention to detail as Pink Floyd.

Also if you like breaksy rocky things, check out Propellerheads Decksanddrumsandrockandroll, and Fatboy Slim/Better Living Through Chemistry. Both overplayed and outdated, but for a reason.

For amazing chillout, look at Kruder and Dorfmeister / K&D Sessions.

And check out Hallucinogen/Twisted in case you like goa
