is apple paying for that full page ad or what ?

also why all ppl now seem to consider fw audio cards pro products ?
they re not, they are just usually reliable
why does this now seems to mean they are pro gear ?

usb audio is really entry level
fw is consumer / semi - pro
express card / pci express is pro level

Yeah, you can get an Inspire for $150, Apple says you need to have a pro machine for that.

There is no pro.

Pro is just if you are getting paid any amount.

Yeah, it would be nice to have an express card, but not at more than the cost of a Macbook!

I think MOTU is going to be a the first Apple puppet... but an Audio Interface that costs you like the Notebook... nah.
I really think that if you want to be creative you should use the internal audio card in the MacBook or go for lower cost interface. I agree with your quote. Pros spend money because they get paid a lot in return. Semi pros or wanna be at the beginning simply cannot afford it.. This time Apple made a big mistake. This is a serious attempt to destroy the loyal customer base... Or you can switch to Windows.
