Slovenia can shove that up their arse. they were sitting back like the greeks last night, hoping for USA to draw so they could go through... hardly any attack.. and now they suffer 8)

^ On German TV, the announcement of the USA goal was *exactly* the same time as the end of the England match extra time. Slovenia will be kicking themselves - they had some half-tasty chances too...

... and Australia bow out in style with a 2-1 win over Serbia!

2-0 up until around the 80 minute mark and going all out attack looking for at least a third goal, and hoping Germany would do the right thing and win by a few...but alas it was not to be. Serbia get one back and it's all over! :-(

That's what happens after a bad start!

Good luck to all those going through (except Italy, who I will never forgive after the last world cup!!!)

especially with their "bad referee luck"!

go US!
Amazing game. If Dempsey would have made that free kick goal when he was bleeding it would have been an epic moment. Hat's off to Donovan for driving it home for keeps. Dude soccer rules.
Donavan with the drive into the score box for the keeps! Striking the ball into the score zone for a 1 and zero overlead. Dempsey Not able to transfer the freekickgoal despite a fourth quarter injury play. The umpire should have flagged the play. we'll be right back, after these messages.

:D

heh hehh, americanz and football.

yeas. much much better. played with some drive and movement.

ups:

Terry was awesome [back in the good books], as was milner [finally crosses].
The link up with defoe, gerrard and rooney looked really good at times. very promising.
they really tried hard as a unit to get rooney a goal [gerrard gave up some good chances to lay off to wayne].

downs:

joe cole coming on wasnt what i expected. i would have liked to see rooney stay on, lampard off, gerrard move inside and have cole working the opposite side to milner. keeping the 3 most danagerous players serviced in the box. rooney going off really killed the tempo of the game.

johnson can still make you lose our finger nails at times.

overall:

pretty even going into the germany game i think.

now that all that is done, can someone explain what the point was of giving the algerian elbow dude the yellow and red card in rapid succession two seconds before the game was over?

If the ref red cards a player for 2 yellows, he has to show the yellow first then the red to show it's not a direct red card. I think it has an effect on the amount of games the player getting it gets suspended for.

Hmmm... first games ok, but second games way off... Australian result, especially, surprised me... hung around after the German game to see if they'd show the goals from the other match, but no luck... were they any good?

And today...?

I'm saying:

Paraguay 3 : New Zealand 0 (sorry Paddy)
Slovakia 0 : Italy 1
Cameroon 0 : Netherlands 2
Denmark 1 : Japan 0

...complete guess, like.

Forget about all that sideshow nonsense. There is only one talk of the town:

England vs Germany Sunday 3pm.

For once I fancy England's chances, germany's defending yesterday was awful and Ghana really shoud have scored three or four times. My feeling is that if Rooney or Defoe were on the end of those chances they would have taken them.

Let's hope the german defending remains as is, on Sunday.

Repeat of Munich please. :D

5-1 the Engerland!
