Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)

andydes Just because the word musicista means composer doesn't mean that a performer or a DJ doesn't play music.
Well, he plays music when the sounds, loops, scratches, mixes etc. are played in real time. This music becomes "sound" if recorded in an audio track (from a musician perspective). For a listener it remains "music", either in real time or recorded.
andydes what about people who don't use loops, and record their own instruments? They're just "performers" recording audio right?
Almost Right: They are performers recording music, not audio. When they played it in real time it was still MUSIC (the performance). The performance recorded in the audio tracks is not music anymore. It WAS music (for our brain), and sound (in a musical perspective). Infact you cannot modify it anymore, unless using acoustic parameters. But it is not editable using musical language.
andydes So you complained in the Propellerhead forums the same way you have here, with your twisted logic that yours is the higher art form. Everyone who disagreed wasn't a musician, came from an inferior culture, etc. Many people were offended and after many pages they banned you right? So you took the same argument to KVR and were banned from there too.
Wrong. I was banned because of my repetitive requests for VST support and because i don't consider rewire a valid vst replacement. No one was insulted, the only ones who felt "insulted" were close minded people or fanboys. Then i wanted to discuss about this issue in KVR forum, but one of the PH employees is in KVR staff, so they banned me at once.
andydes And now you've done it here as well, but still not one single person agrees with your definition.
I've counted only 4 fellows. The rest is trolling or funny nonsense, like the "chips vs fish" debate etc. Or people who feel insulted because they want to be considered musicians even without knowing music. They say: "i am a musician, i play with sounds". But this is not the definition of a musician (at least here in italy). A musician must understand music. What you call "musician" we call "music maker", "sounds player", "dj" etc. Which are minor forms of art, of course. So, if you feel insulted because you want to be considered "a musician" even without knowing music... it is your problem, not mine. I don't call "dancer" a kid who goes to the disco. I call "dancer" a fellow who understands dance. You consider yourself "a writer" like Thomas Mann, Dostoievskij or Dante only because you wrote a nice letter to your girlfriend? I don't call "painter" a kid who draws a flower for mummy. I call "painter" one who understands perspective, colors etc. Or you consider yourself "a painter" only because you've finished a 1000 pieces jigsaw reproducing the Da Vinci Mona Lisa?... You magically become like Leonardo?...
