[Old, see new thread] Ubermap: Push VST param remapping
Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
I m checking again my installed files. Something is strange :
i don't have a "DeviceParameterComponent.pyc" in my push folder. I didn't found it before installation of ubermap (so i didn't had to remove it like explainend in your readme file), and its not present after as well, even if live has been launched one time. Compilation of python went wrong ?
Is it normal ? I have only the "DeviceParameterComponent.py".

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
You have to use the beta - this latest Ubermap will only work with 9.5 beta 4 so that is probably why you are having issuesSoulimano wrote:No i m using ableton 9.5, not pirate, and not beta.

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Ok so here is an update :
I m trying with 9.5.1b4.
Now nothing work anyore, i mean there is no cfg creation anymore in the "devices" folder in my user account.
This worked with live 9.5 non-beta.
I tried many times to reinstall ubermap, to avoid eventual mistakes in my installation, but with no succes
Did anyone succeed like Chris ?
NB : to help debug; the DeviceParameterComponent.py is still not compiled

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Just to check, you are installing into the beta MIDI Remote Scripts folder, not the normal one? I'm not sure how this works on Windows but on Mac there are two separate application files, Ableton Live Suite and Ableton Live 9.5 Beta, so there may be something similar on Windows - Chris, can you advise?Soulimano wrote:Ok so here is an update :

There is no DeviceParameterComponent.py any more - the only files you need to install are Ubermap/UbermapDevices.py, Ubermap/UbermapDevicesPatches.py and Push/__init__.pyNB : to help debug; the DeviceParameterComponent.py is still not compiled

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Yes i installed in the remotescripts include in beta folder, not on the original 9.5 one.
Ok for DeviceParameterComponent.py.
Strange thing; I wold like to say that i did something wrong, but i tried many times.

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Oh wait, something is different. _Init_.py in push folder ?
I used the readme in you "devices" install folder. I did wrong ? I just added DeviceParameterComponent.py in push folder, not _init_.py
I dont have UbermapDevicesPatches.py in the zip

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
MMmm UbermapDevicesPatches.py is present in the other zip file (beta1 ubermap zip). You should add it in beta2 zip
Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Well ok the b1 and b2 zip are really different. I will try to merge everyting.
Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Maybe I screwed up the b2, I'll check it out in a little bit and update if it's wrong!Soulimano wrote:Well ok the b1 and b2 zip are really different. I will try to merge everyting.

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Totally forgot my installation came from a bit of both zip files. As mentioned above, neither has the full file list required by the installation guide.
Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
D'oh, not sure how that happened! Serves me right for not texting it. The only difference between b1 and b2 *should* be the readme, so for now you should be able to install b1 using the b2 readme. I'll get this fixed after lunch anyway, apologies for the confusion![chris b] wrote:Totally forgot my installation came from a bit of both zip files. Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
Raaaaaa finally working now !
Ubermap is BACK.
Tom, a big thanks for your help.
Indeed the b1 and b2 zip are different. Don't worry, this is the typical work for a beta tester to find out this kind of problem/thing/mistake/bug.
Your contribution with ubermap is really priceless for my workflow, you have no idea. Your work is present on the music i do, on scenes, lives etc...
I need to feel my push as a synth, clear and ergonomic, and that's what ubermap bring on plugins.
I can't work if Bank1 is named bank1 instead of "Filters" or Bank2 instead of OSC.
How is readable is Ctrlff instead of cutoff on a plugin ?!!
I just don't understand why its not in live by default.
Now i m waiting for push2, and i hope ubermap will work on it. A few weeks to wait i guess.
Thank's again Tom. Your work is definitly something that push the push for a level up!

Re: Ubermap (w/experimental 9.5/Push2): Push parameter remapping
That's good to hear. I'm sure Ableton are taking note of Tom's excellent work. I just hope they implement something like this themselves.
What they should do though, is simply allow us to do what Ubermap does.
This is not up to Ableton - it is the plugin developers themselves that name these (if you're talking about the sometimes hard-to-read parameter names). There is simply no way Ableton can guess what to name what, unless plugin developers hand them parameter lists etc....doubt they have time to keep all that up to date.I just don't understand why its not in live by default.
