I know this is a Live features wishlist forum, but I want to share this idea.

Maybe Steinberg or someone who works there will read this. I don't even know if they are responsible for developing the VST standard further.

For new versions of VST standard: don't have simple list of parameters. It would be much nicer to have hierarchical structure. Then we could have related parameters grouped and it would be easier to find something like "Sources/Oscillator2/FilterEnvelope/Attack", but off course the host GUI can show you some kind of tree view to actually browse these. You could not see, you could not control, you could not automate the parameter until you explicitly (in the host application) say "I want to see, control & automate this parameter." Then it would be shown in the list similar to the way it shown now when you expand the VST in Live.

I don't know enough about VST standard as it is now, so can anyone with knowledge comment on this idea? Is it possible?

This matter is related to the issue described in this thread, because one of the solutions proposed was to allow a user to select which 128 parameters he wants to see and control. If you have 128+ parameters on a VST it gets difficult to find the ones you want if they are in a simple list.

I really want to buy Live, I really do but I just can't justify it if this feature is not implemented.

As yet another potential buyer I am considering either Live or Logic with a preference to Logic.

What would you guys recommend? How stable has live got to at this point?

So another petition signed for the 128 limit from me.

i never came across this problem

UNTILL

the other day, trying to automate the cutoff filter
(a simple request) in albino 3

but nothing worked i tried for about 2 hours
untill i came across, and then i remembered the 128 parameter limit

Dear Ableton
i now HAVE to use logic to construct songs

if you dont fix this
(keeping in mind i turned 2 people onto buying live)
i wont use it, i want my 2 hours back, and will NOT UPGRADE

wow.. can't believe this thread is still here.

He'll probably point out that he's not an Ableton employee and has to get by with verbal threats like the rest of us... And then he'd kick you in the nuts

I mean seriously there should be a browser where you can AT Least pick the ones that you want. I've never used more than like 10 automation parameters for one synth at a time, but SOMETIMES that ONE parameter that I WANT to use, is like 129 or above. And really important stuff like THE CUTOFF FILTER, lol. Doesn't Arturia's CS-80 have like 500 or so parameters for example?

Live is THE BEST sequencer out there. I use it to DJ as well, I mean it was the best several hundred dollars I've spent on music gear. This is not a deal breaker, but it is surely a big pain.
