CoolBook makes things really go easy.. too bad that OS X doesn't seem to be able to balance that on it's own - i mean this problem is known since the Penryn stuff came out and they were not able to fix that in the last 6 updates..? i'm really curious how the other MacBook guys here managed to stay under 50% without CoolBook. If you have gorgeous tips, PM me please! thanks

I did two tests as I am trying out a Motu Ultralite mk3 and an RME FireFace 400.
Although I am liking the sound clarity (for lack of a better term) of the RME FireFace I am surprised that its latency is typically a bit higher than the Motu.

Note that my chipset on the MBP is not the problematic lucent (agere).

2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model: Laptop, Apple MacBook Pro

iMAc 2,66 GHZ Test results.

Post by Azure Feast » Mon Feb 16, 2009 12:03 pm

Live 7.0.14 8 tracks

1) CPU Meter 40-41% @ 512 Samples
2) iMac 2,66GHz
3) Leopard 7.5.6
4) Intel Core 2 Duo 2,66GHz
5) 4Gb 800MHz DDR2
6) M-Audio Fast Track Ultra USB2
7) WD iBook 500GB 7200rpm by FW800

I am quite happy with the results. It is marginally better than other I have seen before here for that machine (around 46%)

I also did the test in Rewire Slave mode (Playback Mode) with Logic Pro 8. With 8 tracks 83-84% CPU. No clicks... Definitely useable!

Best regards,
