Is no one using a single proc g5 powermac or imac? Do we really expect no difference from the duals, or no?

other than video, Live does not (yet) take advantage of the 2nd processor. hopefully that'll change in the future.

That's an awful lot of processor power!!
How come my machine seems more processor hungry than other machines of lower spec??
very odd.
check your power settings, make sure its set to the "Always On" power scheme. Some of the newer Pentiums have speed step which will save you battery power at the loss of cpu power.
Thanks!
New result:
Live CPU Meter : 32% peak
Dell Inspiron 5160
XP SP2
Intel P4 3.02Ghz
1024MB RAM
Firewire Audiophile
5400 RPM
that made a huge difference.
Usable CPU load?

A general question for people: what CPU% on Live's CPU meter do people reach before they start getting any clicks and pops? I find that I start getting glitches when the CPU reaches 40%: is this normal? I would have expected higher...

Wow! My new computer does great!
1) 17%
2) Desktop / Custom
3) WinXP Home SP2
4) Amd64 3200+ @ 2500Mhz
5) 1024 Mb (2x 512 Dual Channel) Corsair XL @ 2-2-2-5 1T, 416 Mhz
6) Egosys Waveterminal 2496 PCI
7) Seagate 7200.8 250 Gb @ 7200 Rpm

it might be because your soundcard eats already a lot of cpu. check this by looking in task manager without any program open.

Actually LOFA, RAM usage is independent of processors. The RAM does not get split between processors, it is completely independent.

Well shimmer me timbers! I guess I got me a whole darn gig! I'm more of alayman on the computer science side of things (though learning Live and Logic sure is helping me get up to speed.) That is part of the reason I trusted
my money with the G5 desktop- Iknew it would well out of the box.
Maybe once I take a couple hundred gig of files and put them on a usb drive my performance will contend with Hoffman2k's dual 1.8 G5 that runs on less ram as well. It is good to know that that all those files do effect performance.

1) 56%
2) Apple Mac Mini
3) OSX 10.3.7
4) G4 1,25 GHz
5) 256 MB
6) built in
7) 4200 rpm
I did this quick test in a retail store, so I cant't say much about the computers system configuration, seems it runs on a stripped down OS.

Hi All,
I'm new here, just started using Live 4.04 on my laptop for live performances so thought i would do the performance test, here is my outcome
25%
Sony Vaio VGN-A215M
Windows XP SP2
Intel Centrino 1.6 2mb L2 Cache
512 Ram (2700 i think)
Firewire 410 Soundcard
60Gb 5400rpm Hard Drive
...and its got an ATI Radeon Graphics Card Inside.
Thanks

20% - PIII 700 mhz, 128mb ram, 20gb at 5400 rpm, sbLive w/ kx drivers, w2k pro.
Believe it or not.

It's simply not possible.............
You're probably using the performance test without the included samples...

yep, thats about 4.5 times better than it should be.
and Live 4 with the performance test loaded takes up 64MB of ram, thats half of what you have.

impossible. nice try though. you get a F- for effort.
