except that there are a lot of people still using digital performer and they recently announced an update which will bring it to the windows platform as well.
i don't see the i pad or similar replacing the computer in a studio anytime soon. i see it as a complement to the studio.

The longer this release takes, the more I suspect and expect great things out of Live 9. I'm sure a rewrite would take this long after all, especially with the future in mind. I still suspect that BitWig is Ableton pulling a joke on us though.

for how do you thinking on this? i mean they go to both look alike inside on the screenshot but other on that what go lead to on a statement?

Ableton has been working on Live 9 for so long, it may actually look significantly different. We don't know if the style will be the same, I just hope the features will remain and just have new functionality.

Ableton_David, it's been over a year since you responded with your "we're working on Live 9" post. Could you at least post again and make the same comment. Let us know you're still alive and care about us.

Honestly at least Bitwig have a preview and announcement. Live 8 is fine, I'm probably not upgrading to 9 when it comes out anyway, unless it's brutally stable, but it's been way too long with no game plan or direction from Ableton.

Seriously, Studio Vision died an unhappy death by internal struggles (Gibson bought the company and got into a brutal battle with the creator), and it only took two years for it to be finished. Granted this was near the beginnings of VST integration, but Studio Vision had already integrated VSTs. The sad thing is no matter how many users on Ableton's company forums believe that Bitwig is only a minor threat, there are plenty of people posting in other forums about how they never liked Live and are anxiously awaiting the beta release. <- which will eventually happen, the chances against it are low.

So yeah the complaining might be bothersome to locals round these parts, but reality is it's a pretty strange situation. A new horse is about to ride into town and the one we all ride on is stone facing, and isn't showing any details about what it's going to do about about this threat. It's recent track record is seeming complacency though, nothing new for a long time, it's gym membership card shows only a few days attendance in the last couple years.

I find it to be ultra entertaining.
It's like reading a mystery novel or watching a pre boxing match interview.
It generates speculation, discussion and lots of shit talking dumb posts on forums.
