If you ARE using compact flash, did you just load samples onto the card? or sample them in by recording them with the onboard sampler?
I already had the samples in Live so it was easier for me just to tranfser them to the card and load them from there.
I was kinda skeptical about doing that cause I figured some of them might need to be messed with and then loaded in.. Did you make sure they sounded really really nice before loading them on? like resampling and using fx/EQ and such to get the best possible samples and then normalizing them or whatever shiiet? We have the card, just don't have a computer with the slot so we tried recording into it but it was a pain in the ass.
Well yes of course. I had to get the samples sounding exactly how I wanted before saving them to the card so FX tails etc. were included in some of the samples. Everything sounded great once loaded so it was worth the effort.
I used a
USB Flash Card Reader and at only €9.38 it's well affordable

^ yeah i'm gonna have to scoop one of those readers.. I experimented with some stuff like some fx "blubblub" stuff with a lot of delays, that obviously can't be synced but they are just for blowing out the end of the track with a bunch of craziness.
thanks for the inspiration to get my ass on the ball and start loading that thing with samples.

Maybe it's time to move this discussion, and this is a bit over my head, but why couldn't you just load the clean samples and add the effects in ableton later?

Ha. I'm just intimidated by all the uber-studios. Give me 10 years or so and I'll post mine.

LOL just givin' you shit.. Sometimes people dig the minimal setups. See, I'd love to have a shit ton of gear, but I'm always thinking about what my "stage setup" is going to look like, and with all that stuff I'd want to lug it all around which would be impossible.

tlennon - thanks, the slinky helps compensate for my right ear's frequency response by degaussing the
top of the driver. it improved the stereo imaging by 98deciWompurs.
Homes - I've enjoyed the Nova but it's just too perfect for tarnce. have you ever changed the default sound set? it's the synth I learned on so I can usually dial up sounds I hear in my head. I lay it on top of the BCR when I tweak it, then it goes back on the stand.
the Strat is an American Strat, turquoise blue throwback something or other, the headstock matches the body, which is cool. otherwise it's a beater Strat, lame action and tinny single coil pickups. one day I'll sand down the neck, drop in a humbucker at the brige with a new pickguard to boot. for now I play the Brian Moore, love that guitar, piezo 'acoustic' output, center tap humbuckers and midi output, it's a tone machine.
steko - *crash* yay!
illiac -

perfect studio food, lasts all day.
v00d00ppl - wow, thanks man. it's about time I posted a pic!!

it's weird to see my mancave on teh forum.
