I'm at the other extreme. There's not one female in our office. There's too much testosterone bouncing off the walls here.
At another branch the manager has some kind of Charlie’s Angels thing going on because he only hires female office staff.

I should get back to that thread talking about female inequality in the workplace because that’s certainly not what is happening in our Stockton branch.

How many Apps can do midi via USB nowadays? Last time I asked here s.o. told me it requires jailbreak and mywi...
I just saw polychord can do this:
http://polychordapp.com/
"Supports MIDI via WiFi, USB, and virtual MIDI between compatible iOS apps."
Are there any other apps that offer Midi via USB?

Do you mean CoreMIDI, or midi sync? There's a lot of apps that let you use a midi keyboard with them now. NanoStudio, Sunrizer, iMS-20, GarageBand, etc.

Supposed announcement today from Amazon about their new tablet. This rumour has been brewing for quite some time, though I must confess that round about the 3rd sentence - when they get to the part that it will run yet another variant of the Android OS - I start thinking about how much I love kebabs and then lose interest entirely.
And at a price below $300...I mean, how great can it really be?
What we'll get is a Kindle with colour. Hardly the IPADKILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that the fucking tech press mongs are making it out to be.

I'm actually kind of excited about this because I love Amazon almost as much as Apple and even the iPad 2 is too damn heavy as an e-reader. It's the stupid tech press, scratch that, all press that is trying to promote it as a possible iPad killer which I'm sure isn't Amazon's intention in the slightest.
As far as Android OS I think Amazon might prove that it's not a completely clunky POS, but because they want complete control over it and setting limitations for a better user experience. Again, not trying to be an iPad or any tablet killer or all things to all people.
If the price is low, weight is right, and initial reviews are good I'll probably go for it.

It's very interesting having a wife who works at Amazon and handles project management of a lot of this stuff

Every single manufacturer that has adopted the Android OS has said the exact same thing:
Oh no. WE'RE going to do it right.
...
Nothing else needs to be said, really.

That's most likely what I'm going to be going to school for. How's she like it?

The specs on the thing are expected to be extremely low and therefor isn't aiming to be an app powerhouse.

Yes dude, I know. But it's still based on Android.
*shudder*

It's pretty brutal, but she thrives on it. Amazon is a great company to work for, though they require you work a LOT of hours.

Well damnit, I have hope here. DAVID ARQUETTE HOPE.
Plus it's not like Amazon has it's hands in 26 unrelated hardware buckets unlike most other manufacturers that sell Android based products. You don't see Amazon refrigerators, TVs, printers, or electric razors. They just want to do 1 thing right.

YOU'RE FIGHTING ME ON THIS BUT I UNDERSTAND.
Amazon has a good track record with the Kindle. One may think: "How hard is it to do an e-reader". Seeing as the Kindle is the only decent e-reader, and the others pretty much suck ass, it must be damned near IMPOSSIBLE.
So, yeah. I'm holding out some hope.
But what's great about the iPad is that I can buy books from either Amazon or Barnes & Noble. With this new Amazon tablet......lol. Well, talk about monopoly on purchases.
