If not then I of course will totally reverse my view.
Unbelievable. So what was the point of telling us to write to support then? To draw it out? Ableton_David, why did you tell us to contact support if they are just going to say that's it?

Have to say, 129EUR for Live 8 to Live 9 Standard is still bloody expensive.

I got exactly the same response. "glitch". It was in my cart!

Thanks for contacting Ableton.
Due to a bug in our system, the base price for upgrading from Live 8 to Suite 8 was set too low on Thursday. Our apologies for this error.
The prices your friend now sees when logged in to his account are the correct ones.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.
All the best,
Freddie

I can't find any Ableton reps here at AES - otherwise they should have certainly had been told about this epic failure by an Ableton old timer.

For the record, I hereby wish to retract my first post and initial reaction from this board:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=185933&p=1445044&hi ... m#p1445044
I guess I was too naive and actually believed what I saw and didn't understand what was *really* happening... thinking it was some kind of Grand Promotion Launch of Ablelove! How silly I was for believing such a thing!
Opps! Shame on me!

Macbook Pro (2.5 Dual, 4gb) / 30" Cinema Display (I don't give a fuck about no multi-monitor support)

Yes I did similar postings praising Ableton for those suite upgrade prices when the pricing was announced at various forums... So this was really a mistake where the repair effort became an even bigger PR disaster.

it did really happen, it's just that Ableton didn't want it to happen. Really sorry to hear that the cart people aren't going to get the discount, strange being told to contact support just to get a more personalised "No" - it would have been straighter to just say "Sorry but we don't consider placing products in an online shopping cart as a purchase" and leave it there. A mess, with policy being made up on the fly.

Well that's it for me. I really like Ableton Live as a product but this has really put me off. 300 bucks for an upgrade to Suite and that's with 25% off. For the extra 25% I can go to the Fab Filter site and literately get all the plugins I don't already own. Looks like I'm going to be on version 8 for a long time to come.

Yep. You could also purchase some nice synths like Sylenth and Zebra. Mac users could buy Soundforge. You could buy FL Studio with lifetime upgrades.
Upgrade deals
Reason 6 $169
Sonar X2 $99
Sony Vegas $139
Steven Slate Drums 4 $99

Let's see, the recap so far as well as info for those who join the thread now" Ableton posts reasonable pricing on Live 8 to Live 8 suite upgrades on Thursday. Some make efforts to order this when they come home from work or for the weekend. Meanwhile next day Ableton re-adjusts the price $100 based on a mistake they state they made. They tell those who were going to order the upgrade to contact support.
Support's response is that it was a mistake and no effort done to provide the original price. Others chime in and say those who didn't jump in the minutes the price was announced were 'stupid'.
Don't really know what the next response is. Replying to such emails will most likely be ignored by support (or
[email protected]). Maybe sending an email to Gerhard Behles directly, that might get Ableton to provide a reasonable solution?

Let's not forget that the previous upgrade price would have been correct with the 25% off, which is probably what that first day's price was based on. So, whether you want it or not, now you're forced to pay for m4l with suite. They jacked up the price accordingly. If M4L was indeed "included" with Suite 9, then it should be the same upgrade price as it was a week ago!

I don't know what pricing strategies they had, all I saw between looking at the price at work and then when I came home was a $100 price hike.
Personally I'm only interested in MFL, the whole Operator/Tension et rest inclusions into Live suite are not that interesting as I have enough FM and analog synth plug-ins in my arsenal.
I suspect anyone who purchase MFL are also not that excited about the suite upgrades. One thing is for sure, they certainly make us long-term customers to suffer a lot with their pricing experiments that change day by day.
