But is it not the implementation of M4L that's thrown a 'spanner in the works' of the basic stability of the program itself?
Is it not tearing out the Share feature? Or is it not because changing the file format for Serato Live? Or changes to accommodate APC/Launchpad functionality?
We'll all point at the thing we least like to be the cause of instability / delayed features / change of direction / etc..
All I know is that I can do some fairly outlandish stuff with M4L that SHOULD crash Live, but amazingly doesn't. So unless you can prove M4L is the cause, I'd say there are a few holes in that theory..

or even the new warping system

But 4 me the main thing I want/expect BEFORE Live 9 is STABILITY... Jeez.. now that's tiring and boring..
In a way it reminds me of 'boom and bust' mentality. We saw too many Live versions over too short a time scale.. And with this Live 8 fiasco we've ALL payed the price... and tbh we're still paying.. and it isn't cheap. The way it's all been done tbh imo smacks of GREED.

totally!!!

absolutely agree on this: What we always needed was session automation, custom short cut key comands, assignable gui, etc. If its greed, I dont know. A company needs to survive. However, I have no clue why this wasnt first priority since years ago. Speculation on this creates rants and what not, at best. For us who have been following them close for years, greed is not the first word That comes to mind. they probably have internal conflicts on this, but you dont want to go public with that! its by far the friendliest audio company I have had the pleasure to work with, on an every day basis.
So please abes, focus on the main stuf!

i personally could not care less what the cause is, all i want is damn rock solid stability of the program, full period.
and that extremely fast, it's been to long, way, way to long.

And while I agree with you re many added features have gone beyond our wildest imagination... I think it comes down to this......
yes..M4L defenetly made things worse..especially because it was added on top of the allready buggy base...
of cause ableton is denying that m4l was the cause for the extra unstabilitys.. they say it was a new file format that had to be introduced...
why it had to be introduced? because for m4l? no? just for the sake to make a new uncomptible format 2 times the year?
However.. before m4l L8 was unstable..after words big parts of the core functionality went balistic.. arrange standard functions not working anymore.. the bug lists filling pages... but of cause ..it had nothig to do with m4l..
i really dont like that you allways get the impression that someone is not absolutly honest here... but of cause.. as the bugs are owned nd caused by the users.. we have to proove that m4l had negativ fx on the stability...
And regarding the feature requests.. They prefer thigs beyond wildest imagination and include real world wishes only rarley and after 10 years.. multiple arrange versions and clip automation apear in the wishlist since allmost a decade on a weekly base..

Timestretching option in simpler and sampler

Track volume lock on 0dB (Would be nice for midi faders on APC or other controllers)

Build in display in the reverb effect. So you can see how the reverb looks when changing a parameter.

Bezier curves for envelopes

Reverse button in simpler and sampler

Add notes in arrangement view for ideas.

Record automation in sessionclips

Cheaper upgrade
This for so far

If you paid any attention at all, you would have noticed that .als files work in the upcoming Serato Bridge as of Live 8.1.
And you won't be able to link any post to back up that Ableton said any of these things was the cause of instability.

Not suggesting its easy to add, but it definitely isn't impossible anymore.
That's my two most wanted feature I soooo hope you're right...

obvious things dont need a proove. and all the integration and graphical user interface was done by some trainees in the night shift...

Fellas, can we please stick to topic? All this noise disturbers the message to Ableton.
