Do you mix down the stems in ableton and then mix in logic?

I may do this for one of my current projects.

Cheers

i think if you do that (using ableton plus another daw for mixing) then nothing like this in ableton, just construct, arrange, design the sounds, but for the mixing stage, do all in whatever you choose for it.

at least that is how i do it, when i leave ableton, either i do everything in ableton or i do everything except anything that belongs to the process of a mixdown and take that whole part into logic.

I tend to do a fair amount of audio editing / manipulation in LIVE. Compression, Volume, Looping / stretching.

But arrangement, mixdown and mastering in DP.

See this thread for what DP has been up to lately.

IMO they're bypassing Logic as far as a companion to Live.
The way it works makes total sense to throw things back and forth as phrases or even bridges, choruses etc.

I got an email from MOTU on this today. This update looks really sweet. I'm tempted, but I'm so solid on 5.13 on Tiger that I dare not switch yet.

The new controller does make me drool though. 8)

Big things for me are the Contextual Menus, WAV support, Plug in Pre Rendering, track folder improvements, and key command additions.
Themes look pretty bad ass too! I'm gonna sell some blood and get the update.

Are you on an Intel Mac? if so updates to Snow Leopard are only about $30, no reason to get Leopard at all. 8)

I wish. I'm still running a PPC dually 2.7 in the studio. I just updated all the drives and RAM. Hoping to keep her running for a couple more years.

I have WAV support and pre-rendering in 5.13.

Yeah then the upgrade would be spendy then. DP7 minimum specs are 10.5, so you'd have to find a copy of Leopard on ebay or some such nonsense, as Apple doesn't sell it anymore.... in this case borrowing a copy from a friend isn't unethical IMO. Leopard is pretty cool, I still haven't bought Snow Leopard personally.
The dual 2.7 is a solid machine, I had a 2.5 I gave to a friend who's always helped me with keeping my used vehicles running. Loud though!

I'm running snow leopard on my other machines. But upgrading all my plugs, (WAVES, etc) is costly. No need ATM.

WAVES make you pay for PPC to Intel or something else? Never have figured out their policies, one of the reasons I'm glad I'm not a user.... minimal damage from switching to Intel.
