I enjoyed the hell out of the free Crystal plugin, and am buying this right now.

Well, it sucked for the iPhone. Luckily it was only 99cents.

The iPhone/ipod version is more like a demo player because it doesn't have any editing options like you get on the iPad as it says in the app description.

Eh. Picked up Molten and it's very cool, but the docs say that it supports CoreMIDI over wifi. Problem is that it doesn't appear to offer that within the app. I've tried with DSMI but no go. The app has to have built-in DSMI support, and few do...

Also, it's clear that one will have to jailbreak the iPad in order to get true multitasking going on...running an instance of iMS-20 alongside touchAble, for instance. :P

Multitasking touchAble and NLog synth at the same time:

Obviously jailbroken. There's not a single music app I've got that will keep playing in the background; which makes sense given how the iPad multitasking works...

And that video? Sounds like he's not doing MIDI clock sync. Does NLogSynth support clock sync?

Of the handful of apps that have recently been updated to support MIDI, only Molten appears to support sync.

I know it's early yet, but the lack of real detail on CoreMIDI usage options - particularly with a DAW - is appalling.

Hi there, there a lot of forums out there I go to talk iPad/pod music on . Intua, Nanostudio, ableton and sp-forums to name a few. I decided to create a forum on the new Create Digital Music site, Create Digital Noise. Sign up! Let's create a central place to go talk imusic!

It's the standard iPad backgrounding going on in that vid. I sent him a note and he's recording the NLog into Ableton - probably an audio track. When he flips back to touchAble you are hearing the clip and NOT the NLog continuing to play in the background.

Runxt Life is the best implementation of "Game of Life"-style generative sequencing that I've seen:

In other news, Griffin has put out StompBox, a $99 footpedal controller for iOS:

"1/4? jack accommodates plugs from variable inputs like volume, expression, or wah-wah pedals"

Hope Amplitube gets support for this.

I've never owned a Griffin product that didn't break for no apparent reason.
I had several of every model of iMic. They discontinued the FireWave because they were too dumb to realize that the Firewire cable they shipped with it was causing most of the problems. Subsequently they stopped updating drivers, making their only product that really worked for me useless.
The Powermate still works. But the electronics lasted longer than the glue used to keep the knob in place. So I've had to fix it a few times.

Definitely in the top 3 of companies that'll never see a penny from me again.
