Ableton usually give discounts to people that just bought Live n-1 when Live n is released.

I still run Live 7, and wasn't planning on upgrading to 8 because like before, there seemed to be a new version every year and I was getting tired of paying $150 dollars every year for an update. It was beginning to seem like a subscription rather than a system I could purchase once and settle in. I don't mind paying once in a while for new versions, but every year was a little to frequent for me.

Now that Live 8 has been out for so long I actually do wish I upgraded it years ago since its been a span of time that seems more realistic for me to pay for an update. But now its been too long and if I update now, I might be stuck with Live 8 since I'd update and then live 9 would come out. Don't want to pay twice, so I'm certainly eager for 9 now too. It would be good to have some sort of official statement mentioning what the schedule is looking like. Then I'd have peace of mind knowing that even if I did update for 33% off it may be another 5 years of my money's worth rather than pay now and pay again a few months or year later for L9...

-64Bits
-REAL MP3 Support!!!!!! (Not decoding to WAV when importing an mp3 file, that eats all my HDD space... Traktor Pro reads the MP3 directly without converting to WAV!!!! If I were only a Producer I wouldn't care! But c'mon as DJ convert my 30GB of MP3s to WAV I'd need 2TB HDD)

Jesus, why dont you just get the update already. If your counting years, that little upgrade fee is just peanuts in the big picture. You shold have gotten the 33% sale. Its already finished. Are you seriously saying you would go on some 5 year mission that might but not certainly save a mere 50 bucks on your main musical tool, and for that alone you would miss out on all the new futures during that time?
