deva - Cuba - not on my mind. I could cite their human rights violations and lack of free speech and for some reason people risk their lives to get to the US. I'm not interested in a Cuba discussion, I don't think about it, haven't read up on it. you'd come back with US foreign policy complaints. dunno if US citizens are sneaking into Cuba to start a new life there, doesn't happen.

their human rights violations pale in comparison to ours... and of course people want to come here... for one, their country is impoverished by 50 years of a crushing embargo by the US

My mention of Cuba is from the standpoint of discussing Obama so I'm fine to drop it too. We should just leave Cuba alone, but the US feels entitled to meddle in the affairs of everyone else. 700+ military bases around the world in 100+ countries.

Ron Paul represented some real change. He said not only would he bring the troops home from Iraq, but he would bring the troops home from all those other countries too. He understands that our economy is in a shambles and that we are bankrupting ourselves with military adventurism.

Fannie and Freddie just went belly up. That is a catastrophic bankruptcy. Was there even a single mention of it at either the Democratic or Republican conventions? I don't think so. The level of denial is shocking. Washington Mutual is also about to go bankrupt.

The FDIC has $45 Billion for bailing out banks. Washington Mutual has assets equaling $300 Billion. At some point the FDIC runs out of money and depositors are just SOL... (If you got money in WaMu I suggest you get it out now)

I would not want to be elected prez right now... Whoever it is may end up as the fall guy
