Good solution to keep the missus happy. How do the monitors sound in such an enclosure?

I actually haven't had any problems with the monitors sound at all. I was a little worried about it myself, but the mixes have sounded pretty even. I'm happy with it.

I built a rack for my synths! Thanks to some threads on this forum showing the usefulness of the Ikea Rast, gave it a go myself - took an evening of sawing and drilling and painting, but it's great, much better access to the synths and the 1U ultralite fits (just) underneath the lowest shelf... and it was dead cheap.

Looks like a stained Ikea rack.
I still haven't put the rack rails in mine.
edit: Yep it was.

Yup, Ikea Rast with dark wood-stain. Couldn't find any fitting rack rails in Germany, so I built my own out of the offcuts from the back of the Rast (I cut it down from 30cm to 20cm depth). All fits beautifully.

It looks great! I still need to stain mine.

I'm diggin the retro lamp shade.. matches the "wood panel" type job on the controller and the rack synth colors as well..
I could remix some funky shit in that room and it would feel like i'm in the right place
I see the one slider on your keyboard has broken off like ours did.. unless it was supposed to be like that, i never knew..

^ Thanks! The keyboard slider is meant to be like that, it does look a bit broken off, you're right, but it's the way it is...

Why? Genelecs already come with the plastic base thing which is supposed to help isolation.

I have Genie 8030s and trust me you need them. I use Primacoustic pads on isolated stands - the difference is pretty clear to hear.
