8.1.3???
Re: 8.1.3???
Well same here, few instruments but cpu bar goes crazy and sometimes pass 50% or even 60%
On the other hand sometimes it's ok.
It confirms what subfunk said,
I've recorded a little track yesterday,
just 3 midi instruments [Collision + Tension + Electric]+ 1 audio track
in arrangement view, I play the track, first instrument begins with some little happenings from another one, CPU goes mad while the two instruments are play together.
Then silence of 4 measures and the other instrument begins its own melody, there I see the cpu bar going mad for 3% to 63% erraticly, it happens overall at the beginning of the clip, then it cools down.
I got no audio crackles, surprisingly.

Re: 8.1.3???
ok so I recorded three audio clips via guitar thru guitar rig 4. Got a few crackles but nothing major. Was looping those three then got to using kontakt 4 performance loops. Two different kontakt 4's in an instrument track to control volume and other parameters. After i got things that I liked I recorded then adjusted the global quantized to 1/16 to get a better "grind-ish" quality when hitting the loops via apc 40. My brain was going to a few different directions (cause I serato going on another computer trying to scratch some acapella over it all )so did not notice the first time but the latency between the time I hit the pad on the apc 40 and then time the clip was triggered was at least a second. Tried again and had the same issue. Thought it might be the apc 40 (even though I've never had an issue with mine ) so grabbed the mouse by the tail and did the trigger manual. Still the same thing.
No bug report to send because nothing crashed but I wish it would have so we could look at this.

You can choose the "Create Bug Report Snapshot" from the help menu. This creates a pack without Live needing to crash. It might help Ableton to see what is going on.HeadrickProductions wrote:ok so I recorded three audio clips via guitar thru guitar rig 4. Got a few crackles but nothing major. Re: 8.1.3???
same here, absolutely identical behaviour. CPU at 60-80% for...well...nothing spectacualr.SubFunk wrote:after another lovely day beta testing instead of creating, i have here and there audio hiccups and crackles also when midi instruments (not bounced to audio) appear the first time in the arrangement, meaning the timeline moves over a new part that contains a midi instrument it has either a short 'hiccup' or it crackles. i am not sure if that is due to the fact that because of the bug / event recorder the CPU is stressed way more as my CPU usage was never showing such high values with so little instruments / tracks (i get now around 60 / 70%, with sets that where usually around max 40% on my system, never managed that before)
testing goes on... but i am happy that the crackle / dropout while moving things in realtime are gone, totally, because i did not had any realtime since live 8.0 because of crackles / dropouts all the time...
but new issues that still seem hard to properly isolate appear... still trying.
in short no older set is working as it should be, either the GUI is mucking about, or audio crackles / dropouts, or midi / key mapping doesn't work, or else, i could not open a single of my existing sets and running it without having some sort of issue... one nearly empty set, a work in progress crashes always at the attempt of loading it. it is my template (works(ed) since month and month) plus a few audio files only (i sent the bug report and set zip file)
also the recovery seems still only to work at random.
8.1.2b7 was the best so far - @ least for me.
Let's hope they'll find it an release a next beta/RC really soon. Gotta go on /w my stuff.

thanks....new to this, already turned her off. But I'll be sure to turn her on and get her hot and bothered soon enough!!hoffman2k wrote:You can choose the "Create Bug Report Snapshot" from the help menu. Re: 8.1.3???
after a whole day testing like mad... some issues seem to be gone (the ones i mentioned already), but i still get some irritating random behaviour, with some sets i open i get a certain behaviour, like GUI glitches, when i close it and reopen the same set, the GUI glitches might be gone but i get audio crackles instead or else, really random oddness, that drives me nuts since 8.0 with older sets, i can't really pinpoint yet what the hell is going on there, well tomorrow is another day i probably dedicate testing.
but yes my CPU spikes madly and randomly the first time since i use live (v 5.2) and my fan goes nuts, it jumps, once i have live open at around 6000rpm permanently (both fans on a MBP) and the machine is getting boiling hot. it cool's down once i close live.

all crackles are major.HeadrickProductions wrote:ok so I recorded three audio clips via guitar thru guitar rig 4. Got a few crackles but nothing major.
that's not a bug, that's called latency, all DAWs have it. spend some time with Live setting it up and learning how to control things like this. it's a balance between buffer zize, set size and sample rate. did you setup your Delay Compensation?the latency between the time I hit the pad on the apc 40 and then time the clip was triggered was at least a second. Re: 8.1.3???
and one positive thing, i can move finally things around in arrange or session without an immediate crash.
some new issues like weird GUI random 'freezes' instead it seems.
i am not sure if i can say it's better or worse, some super old permant issues i had seem gone, but some new ones i never had before are there now

Well subfunk, I hope it's related to the event recording process in the beta
I've just tested with a launchpad, I was inspired and recorded some bars.
I immediatly noticed a lot more latency with exact same settings. weird
I'm gonna test deeper tonight

wrong quantization also comes to mindTone Deft wrote:that's not a bug, that's called latency, all DAWs have it. spend some time with Live setting it up and learning how to control things like this. it's a balance between buffer zize, set size and sample rate. did you setup your Delay Compensation?the latency between the time I hit the pad on the apc 40 and then time the clip was triggered was at least a second. Re: 8.1.3???
that is my guess too, still annoying, it is a ridiculous jump i think even for an event recorder, no?Hermanus wrote:Well subfunk, I hope it's related to the event recording process in the beta

and as usual, after a while now (the whole day testing) i get some crackles again creating tracks while live is running... (just now, a few minutes before typing that) i think i just really should give up and move on. it is always the same it works, i mean some of it for several hours or day even weeks in the case of 8.0.8 and then... more and more problems, crashes, and other annoying things appear...
well, except the one of my sets live does not want to open anymore (crash at attempt to startup) it seems stable so far... just audio crackle pops dropouts and GUI weirdness.
guess as a stoopid fanboy you can consider that an improvement

subfunnk - did you try dumbing your buffer size and sample rates all the way down then slowly bump them back up? from time to time, version to version I change my settings around to adjust for changes in my system over time and changes in Live. kicking the tires as things change.
GUI problems are annoying but I'll take those over audio glitches.
hang tight, better days are ahead. we hope.
housemusiclover - yeah, thanks for that.

Re: 8.1.3???
nothing has changed in my setup.......and all of a sudden it was freaking out. I've had 20+vst's before with cpu pushing 75% and the apc still responded quickly. I am aware of latency, but will not claim to know all. I'm going go turn her back on and see what I get.Tone Deft wrote:all crackles are major.HeadrickProductions wrote:ok so I recorded three audio clips via guitar thru guitar rig 4. I did not even have alot of things going on or plugged into the laptop, just apc 40, mbox, mpk25.
I'll get back to you...and no crackle is ok, but I'm trying to be such an ass and just try to get this thing working ASAP so we can role the bridge out. Serato moderators are saying that it might be this summer, but their waiting on live.

Re: 8.1.3???
alrighty, just had a kernel panic (at least i think so, the grey curtain came down and a window appeared a serious blah, blah you need to restart), first time ever!, can that be caused from overheating? i never ever had that, i only heard of it.
cause the temperature and my fans went totally nuts with running 8.1.3b2
and i am curious if the recover mode works, because it only did randomly before... just starting up... let's see.

it seems to recover, but i shut down now and leave it, the temperature of the machine goes immediately up like crazy and the fans going full throttle once i start live, ridiculous.
oh man, oh man... not going to blow my computer because of this disco!
8.1.3b3 in working order NOW please.
it has been over a year!!! a ridiculous year to fix one single piece of software. damn!
