1) Ableton Live CPU Meter % = -71-77%
2) Laptop= Apple Powerbook Aluminum
3) Osx 10.3.9
4) G4 1.25ghz 167MHz Bus
5) 512MB DDR SDRAM PC2700U-25330
6) Apple Core Audio(built in)
7) 80GB Toshiba (stock) 5400 RPM (I belive)
this test was performed on a freshly formatted hd with only Live 5 and Serato Scratch Live installed.

ok,
This is my brand new Imac G5:
1. (using 5.03) CPU Meter = 45% ( 50% with M-audio firewire solo)
2. Imac G5 Isight 17" 1,9ghz
3. Mac OSX tiger 10.4.3
4. G5 1,9 ghz
5. 1.5 GB Ram
6. Built in and M-audio Firewire Solo
7. Sata 7200 RPM 160gb Hard Drive
I'm happy..
It's a beautiful machine..
i used to own a rev A Imac and it was very noisy..
This one is a lot better.

much better that what I was dealing with before, that's for sure

Ran the test on my machine although there were a few parts in the instructions I couldn't follow to the letter (possibly already covered elsewhere in the thread, I've not read it all):
Audio - Input Audio Device > "No Input" - no such option, I did disable the inputs in the input config though.
Audio - Output Buffer Latency > "512 Samples" - The prefs in live just tells me the input and output latency in ms and can't be changed. The DMA buffer setting on my soundcard's control panel was on 512 Samples though.
Results:
1) Ableton Live CPU Meter: 38% peak (wobbled between 34&38)
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model: Desktop, Dell Dimension 8300
3) Operating System: XP SP1
4) CPU Make Model and Speed: Intel p4 2.6Ghz
5) Amount of Ram / Speed of Ram (if you know): 1Gb DDR400
6) Soundcard (Stock or add on?, usb/firewire/pci ?): M-Audio Delta 1010LT (PCI)
7) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know): 7200RPM
No glitches or disk overload. Have had a flick through a few other people's results and I'm quite pleased with that!
@meatfestival - your results are (literally) incredible. Are you sure you ran that test right? What drivers are you using / latency setting? (cos it aint 512 samples on that AC97, I'm sure!)

Just tested again. Looks like "delay compensation" wasn't enabled. I distinctly remember checking it before I tested the first time, but somehow it was off. The real figure should actually be 39%, so basically the same as a 2.6GHz Pentium 4. Oh well!

drivers - just whatever ones were installed with the machine.
latency - 512, as per 1st page of thread

Here I go:
1) 23%
2) Pointer Systems M570A = same as the Clevo made M570A
3) Win XP pro
4) Pentium M 2.0 Ghz 533 Mhz FSB
5) 1Gb DDR II 533 Mhz
6) RME Multiface II via Cardbus
7) 5400 RPM S-ATA
While tweaking XP's power settings for optimal performance, I noticed that if you put off all powersaving processes and choose for maximum performance -like you can do with SpeedswitchXP-, there is much better performance when using the lap with the power adapter -AC-, than working only on batteries -DC-. Working on DC results in a much more unstable and less powerfull behavior of the CPU, even with the same settings as with working on AC. While at first my results were very poor and this lap couldn't get close to the performance of my pIV 2.8 Ghz 800FSB-2Gb DDR-7200RPM-RME HDSP 9632 system, now it has beaten the CPU specs of my PIV!
I runned 3 different tests on both systems -tweaked in the same manner with similar soundcards and same buffer size:
PIV 2.8 = 32% <--> PM 2.0 Ghz = 20%
PIV 2.8 = 35% <--> PM 2.0 Ghz = 23%
PIV 2.8 = 70% <--> PM 2.0 Ghz = 49% *
* Here my PIV failed to play the audio whell, dropouts and glitches, out of sync etc... while PM still did the job whell!
Hope this gives a good idea of PM's capabilities

Running demo version of Live. Not bad for a cheap computer.

That is incredible... Not shure if I belive its right... More then twice as effective as the 2ghz Pentium M centrino??? Can someone confirm this is right?
