you'll live to regret it if you do. the only difference between the epic failure that you cause (not backing up etc.) is that at least you have no one to blame but yourself. with the cloud version you'll have entire companies ALSO blaming you.
they'll never admit that your data loss is on them, but they will wholeheartedly agree that YOU could have done something different.

The only cloud based thing I’m seeing a benefit in now is Match (which I still haven’t done) because if your place burns to the ground or is victim to some other catastrophe then at least you can get your tunes back after you bury your wife, 2 kids, and the niece you were babysitting at the time. Tragic.
And on that note, it really won’t matter how many external drives you have your shit backed up on if they are all in the same building and it gets sacked or reduced to ashes. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO

Not to upset LSZ again, but yesterday I went to watch some Netflix on my Apple TV and it kept telling me either Netflix wasn’t available or that there weren’t any movies in my queue. I switched over to my swiss army knife of an LG TV and no such issues.
I watched a documentary on the one man who managed to stick it to the 1%, Bernie Madoff.

But now I'm too nervous to take my iPhone apart to put it on.

Check your screws. They used to be Phillips, now they're this five point star deal that you need a special bit (and technically you're supposed to use a special driver) to remove.
Otherwise, it's super easy. Once the screws are out the back cover slides right off (or rather, it slides up then comes right off).

This happens sometimes after a software update. Just do a hard reset of the ATV and all should be well.

Re: iPad
Rumours are flying HARD AND FAST now on the upcoming Apple Television.
I've mentioned my prediction; which is being echoed in many places:
The Apple Television is going to bring all sorts of web-based pay content like Hulu+ and HBOGO and Netflix and etc etc into one monthly fee package.
It's going to revolutionize EVERYTHING.
Finally.
ps: beats, say goodbye to that fancy schmancy LG TV. say hello to Apple Television BRILLIANCE.

The crafty Japanese actually sent me 2 screw drivers with the plate, 1 looks like the 5 point star one but damn the tip is tiny. I think they even have a youtube video of how to do it. I'll probably give it a go this weekend.Ryanmf wrote:Check your screws. I'm skeptical of the price considering their 27" monitor is $1,000.
Plus my 4 month stint of being made of money has come to an end.
Plus I need to get an iPad 3.
Plus my 15" MBP porn server breathed it's last breath and would be best replaced with a 15" Macbook Air.
ALL THAT ABOVE.

Re: iPad
The Apple Television is going to get here Before the iPad3.
And what better new porn server than a GIANT MAC in the form of said Apple Television.
The price will be $2000 for around 50" of LOVE.

agreed, BUT... how many people (in this thread alone) have had iCloud issues pop up and how many have had any issues with flames popping up?beats me wrote:The only cloud based thing I’m seeing a benefit in now is Match (which I still haven’t done) because if your place burns to the ground or is victim to some other catastrophe then at least you can get your tunes back after you bury your wife, 2 kids, and the niece you were babysitting at the time. The main reason I would trust match more than other cloud based services is it’s a pretty straight forward concept. If the tracks are available on iTunes (whether you bought them from iTunes or not) there is no upload and it just lets you redownload the tracks to other computers or devices from Apple’s servers. If the tracks aren’t available in iTunes then it uploads them to your cloud storage. There probably won’t be a lot of frequent updating needed and it isn’t a hot need for most people.
The main issues with iCloud seem to be with software and documents that get updated sporadically throughout the day or the week.
One cloud based service that has worked flawlessly for me is if I buy anything from iTunes it automatically downloads to any of my other computers that I designate. The Beatles box set I bought this past weekend was over 200 files. When it was done downloading on my bedroom computer I popped on the Mini in the living room and the files were already downloaded on that computer too.
