Well, I would have a lot more of that, if it wasnt located in the livingroom, in my appartment. But im going to move to a country-side house at some point, as im growing out of this city cave.
Is it nessesary with accoustic treatment? For me its vital. I cant paint or read well in bad light, and I cant mix well in a bad acoustic environment.

Hopefully good music....

Really my background is in classical music...I am a violist/guitarist and have played in many symphonies in my area and in the states.
I have always loved electronic music and sounds and started with software but I feel that hardware just sounds more like real instruments - organic (not trying to start a debate just based on my ears).
Anyway, keep an ear out you may hear some of my music soon!

Just to throw a short line to that question... No!
Foam is as effective as Eggtrays! meaning it's ineffective at anything but removing the higher frequencies. It add's nothing to overall room correction but dullness in the sound. Look to do your own Basstraps/Broadband absorbers from a little craftsmanship and various densities of Rigid Fiberglass or Mineralwool.
Commercial product exist, just look for Realtraps or browse the Gearslutz DIY area with more advice than you can fathom.

@ze2be: That is spot on! Albeit it can be done much nicer in terms of design, but that is all down to how skilled you are with hammer & nails!
To give an example, mine are the ones on this picture. Takes a little longer to make, but well worth the effort. Will post more images as soon as I feel the whole room is finished.

These are two broadband absorbers, made from Mineral Wool. Brand: Paroc (available in Sweden), with a density of app. 100Kg/M3. In the background you can se the edge of my Superchunk, which is installed in all four corners, and filled with Rockwool Flexi-A Mineralwool with a density at app. 40Kg/M3. This goes from floor to ceiling.
At the moment I have 4 Superchunks, and 7 Broadbands, and planning on making at least 6 broadbands more, to cover the wall to cealing corners.
It sounds fantastic in my concrete basement due to these! The sound perception is dry, defined and wide, without any extreme reverb tails or ringin'. Without any treatment, I had a "natural" reverb tail of 10s But I'm not into long reverbs
