ooh ooh!! I just learned another one.

In Arrangement View, you can drag in audio loops and then grab and drag one side of the title bar to loop it for as long as you want. Don't know why, but I never got this one before. Much quicker than typing the length and loop stuff in the clip.

Holding down the ALT key when selecting in Arrangement view turns off clip selection.
Very useful, when you want to select/copy parts of clips or move the location marker without expanding the track.

for a long time i've been running reaktor inside live without being able to type any numbers or text into reaktor. in order to edit a patch i always had to open it in standalone mode.

someone just clued me in to this fix:

you have to create a txt file named options.txt in which you just write "-_EnsureKeyMessagesForPlugins"
and then you put it in the preferences folder of live

* OS 9: .../Preferences/Ableton/Live [version]/Options.txt
* OS X: .../Preferences/Ableton/Live [version]/Options.txt
* Win: ...\Program Files\Ableton\Live [version]\Preferences\Options.txt
* Win Live 5: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Ableton\Live [version]\Preferences\Options.txt

fwiw, my preferences folder was here:
Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ableton\Live 7.0.10\Preferences

hope that helps someone else!

Click a device parameter, hit esc, now title bar is selected
Hit Esc again, now the rack is selected.
If the rack is within a rack, hit Esc a 3rd time to select the rack which holds the inner rack.
etc etc

As a shortcut, just hold down Esc and it will run thru as many levels of rack as you have.

That would be great for big projects.
But for me (Live 8, Mac) holding ALT = copy-drag.

What am I missing?

Thanks

I use a windows machine, so you probably have to replace ALT with your Apple key or whatever.
