Tone Deft wrote:I'm doing my absentee ballot now, reading the issues, all that. 4 pages although one is only to elect supervisors. important stuff!

lots of rehabilitation over incarceration measures, legalize prostitution(?), eliminate gay marriage, rename a sewage plant after Dubbya, alternative fuels, redistricting, some heavy stuff.

couldn't do this in two minutes, couldn't even read it all in two minutes.
Yeah, a lot depends on location. Mine was only 3 pages and very big print. I went the same route as you and took my time deciding how to cast my vote. :)

I keep hearing that there was a huge rush in the morning in most places... still, scary that Baltimore wasn't overflowing at the polls, but maybe it will be later around 5???

Yes, yes, and a little more Yes
actually I voted against it. SF is a major hub in the international sex slave industry, this would only work against that. if I want to rent a vag for the hour I can drive a few hours to Nevada.

yep. proposition R, I voted for that one, too funny. if you've seen the show Dirty Jobs where he goes to replace a giant poo pump in a waste station, that's the place.
http://www.smartvoter.org/2008/11/04/ca/sf/prop/R/

some other interesting ones...
Proposition 8. Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry - fucking Mormons put that one on our ballot.

Prop V - reinstate Jr ROTC in high schools. I voted for that one, it's a personal choice and an opportunity for kids to get money for schools.

Proposition U - Policy Against Funding the Deployment of Armed Forces in Iraq - our local reps cannot vote to spend money on Iraq unless it's to bring troops home. supported that one.

Proposition 1A. Safe, Reliable High-Speed Passenger Train up and down CA

Proposition 2. Standards for Confining Farm Animals - about time (animals' rights to stand up, sit down etc in their pens)

Proposition 4. Waiting Period and Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor's Pregnancy - hell no.

Proposition 5. Nonviolent Drug Offenses, Sentencing, Parole and Rehabilitation

the redistricing of CA should be interesting, same with the alternative fuels and SF voting to be our own energy provider (screw you guys!)

oh, and Cindy Sheehan running for Pelosi's spot, she's not even a remote contender.

I wrote in Jesus Christ. I can't sign my name to Obama (abortion) and I can't sign my name to McCain (War).

I seriously don't understand how anybody could stomach to vote that minors should legally be able to have an abortion without parental counseling, consent, or even knowledge. Do you care to provide a good case for your vote?

no matter what your preacher or bible might tell you, abortion will happen no matter what the laws might say. being pro choice means being pro health care. being pro life is simply shitting on the healthcare and adoption services.

women are intelligent enough to have control over their own bodies. they can go to a clinic or they can go to a back alley.

Why even bother voting? What a waste.

IN ABOUT AN HOUR, THE FIRST POLLS WILL BE CLOSING...

If you feel you are running out of time, just remember that if you are standing in line, then you will be allowed to vote, regardless of how long it takes.

In about an hour, the counting will begin and we will see results slowly pour in as polls continue to close across the country.

If you haven't voted, please make sure you do. 8)

The prop is talking about young women and girls, unemancipated minors. Not women. Excluding parents from the counseling process is foolish to say the least.

From your post directly above this one, you make it clear you are against abortion completely. Why bother trying to convince you of why a minor should be allowed to get one without parental consent when you don't think an adult should be allowed to make the decision.

What I don't get is why you think I minor is responsible enough to have a baby, but not responsible enough to choose not to.

The only arguments I've seen against abortion are religious ones, and you can keep your fucking religion out of my laws.

clinics do provide counseling. if a girl wants an abortion, she can find a way to get an abortion. question is do you limit their resources or fund the resources that can include counseling before and after the procedure, counselors that can provide adoption services and even suggest to the girl that they talk with their parents.

you cannot stop abortion.
