No genre means anything other than the popular belief.

try asking people if they like "electro." maybe one out of 50 people you ask will actually think of *real* good ol fashioned planet rock style electro. Shit, they won't even think of 90's drexcian style electro. they will think of some utter shit generic dance pap.

next try "dub"

whatever, trance wasn't so bad when it just meant a certain brand of dark and sparse techno, but it hasn't meant that for a long long time.

curious as to what you think trance is, but actually not really.

anybody remember the old compilation cd "trance europe express?"

the first one contained an amazing AFX track, "glitch" by moody boys (a really sick track), and "dust" by psychic warriors ov gaia. If that stuff is trance, then i'm all for it. however, just like every other stupid ass name that people come up with for electronic music, it always ends up meaning shitty mainstream dance music.
