My only issues so far:

Battery 3 - I used to have a few crashes here and there (w/Live 6-7) trying to load patches on the fly and whatnot. Seems to be intensified a bit in 8. Nothing I can't work around, but it sure sucks when you've spent a few minutes building a custom kit only to have a crash and then Live recovers the midi clip, but Battery doesn't recover the kit.

yea I'm still on 7 and have that same issue with battery, I thought it was just me, thats the few rare times that ableton does crash on me. sometimes other native instrument plug-in will pop up a dialogue box that won't go away , so annoying I have to reboot the session

Ohm force VSTs have some problems in Live 8 on mac. Very slow loading of presets. At least with ohmicide and minimonsta. THE AUs are fine though.

I had emailed the Ohm guys about the slow preset switching in Ohmicide when I first upgraded to 8.01 and they recently sent me a new (beta) version that completely fixed the issue. I'm sure if you shoot them an email they'll hook you up.

Cool. I emailed them about it too. But they didn't have a new beta yet, they just said they were working on it and weren't sure if it was their fault or Live's. But cool that they got it sorted. I'll just wait for the update. thanks.

Solution :
Step 1: Run live " as administrator " .
Step 2: Disable the VST folder in preferences then enable it again.

This solution might work for some and might not work for others.

Peace.

Hey Aisling,

I use the powercore compact, no compatibilty problems with Live 8.0.2, the firewire link drops out every now and then which is pain in the ass!

When its up its great!!

maybe all your LEGACY files need to be in the vst folder directly, and not in it's own folder inside your vst folder?
that's what i would try to do next.
I have the same problem with my KORG M1 synth. It will not appear in my pugin folder in Live8. It works well in standalone version.
- I've copied all .fxb files in the library/audio/plug-ins/vst folder, including the .vst files. After rescanning for plugins in the preference window, they still won't appear, also starting up Live8 didn't make any difference. I never had this problem with other plugins in Live8.

If someone has a clue, i would be extremely thankfull!!!

cheers Bart

me too, when i change fast presets (in any instrument, not plugs, though)... then it leads to crashes.

mostly with crystal and crystal used to work perfectly well under 6, being able to switch through presets with the speed of light and no trouble (same version of crystal which is since ages 2.4.9) so it is clearly not a case of crystal.

Version 3.0.3.00 is out, try updating it.

i've had a few issues with Minimonsta midi controls but not crashes as such

say I map filter cut to a nob on my controller - works fine and can session a way

Later on tho, the control is still mapped i can see the slider moving left and right in lives plugin window but its not affecting the sound at all
On the minimonsta gui the filter nob is not moving even tho its is in lives configure view.... most odd

The u-he Uhbiks crashes Live 8.0.4 when deleting them from a track and undoing that action.

I have solved the problem, so anyone who would benefit from these instructions: be my guest!
1. Download the latest version of KLC-DE (which is said to be 1.3.1 (on korgusernet.com), but actually is 1.2.2 (from info after installation))
2. Remove the old versions with the uninstaller and clean up all KORG files when you have been copying them dragging them around like I did
3. Install the newest version of the software. This will automatically deliver the relevant files in the right folder which is Library>audio>plugins>vst

So in the end it was just an update issue!
I'm really happy to use this synth now!!

ciao!!

Absynth 4 sometimes the note doesn't start immediately when you launch a clip.

Kontakt 3 crashes when importing samples, but I think this is more of a Kontakt problem. Most other synths I own are pretty stable otherwise.

I have a click and pop issue when using plug-ins that use a lot of Ram (Drum Racks included).

DBGLUE's Glitch plug when automating "shuffle" in my case, when there are about 3 other glitch plugs on separate tracks. i get a "serious problem has occured. Live will shut down after you click OK" or something like that. can't work in the same project ever again UNLESS YOU DO THIS:

delete the glitch plugin from the track you think is having a problem. (you can usually tell because automation doesn't work) and click ctrl-s RIGHT AFTER YOU REMOVE THE GLITCH PLUGIN and before the "serious error window" there's a small window of time where you can save your project after removing the corrupt glitch plugin, project becomes usable again.

this might be possible with other "serious problem has occured." issues. not sure.

other than that, live 8 has some serious memory issues. still. sluggish project opens, can take up to 30 seconds on some projects with only 5 or so tracks.

I contacted the ableton support and for windows you have to open ableton 8 as the administrator and this will make most of your plugins work but i found that alot of the preset were miss i hope they fix this soon but the good thing that this issue has done is make me use the plugins that came with 8 and now i find myself using it like Reason and thats pretty cool.
