Good idea, when turning the wheel above the Tracks where the scroll/zoom cursor appears, that would make a lot of sense sinces now, usually you'll also pan the tracks unintentionally if you don't move the mouse 100% vertically. The same should apply to every scrolling area.

Hi all,

just a short note on the "wacom" thing. The midi ruler is an oversight, sorry for that- coming soon. It is not a special wacom thing actually. It is supposed to work with all tablets and in emulation modes (on linux for example ;) or remote desktop mode as well. So far it was just a test, I am glad you still like it.

So does this absolute mouse mode mean anything to non tablet users? I'm sort of hoping it means you can change parameter values on Live's devices/mixer by scrolling mousewheel/trackpad. That's one of my favorite things about using VSTs instead of ableton devices is that you can often use trackpad scrolling to change knob values.

No, not really, beside in emulation or RemoteDesktop Modes. In fact, AbsolutMouseMode can be used with any hardware but it has some disadvantages (try to raise bpm... you won't come fare until you have to reset the pen / mouse).

remote desktop Live!

hmmmmmmm
interesting possibilities
I now imagine Ableton selling remote seats on a server-hosted 'terminal' or console version!

He said emulation modes in Linux. Meaning running Live in WINE I assume.

It's safer to assume that Reiner meant using a VNC client (like UltraVNC) on a Linux Box while letting it connect to a VNC server on the machine which is running Live.

Thats the problem with Linux and assumptions. I'm expecting Noisetonepause to interject any second with a story on how he got Live to run on Linux using only a usb flash drive and a toothpick.

Remote desktop or wine emulation, this is all not environment you want to make music, that's why I put a smiley behind it ;) Just an example where it could be applied other than wacom. The wine "bug" was reported once on the forum though. Very sorry if I caused confusion.

this crashes ALOT. Sometimes, accompanying the crash, a digital "screaming" sound occurs. only resolved by unplugging my audio interface (zero 8) I've also tried with a profire 610 interface, same results.

i also remember the program crashing when i added 15 or so warp points to a 32 bar audio clip. got REAL SLOW, had to kill it.

i'm running 8.0.2b1 on a windows pro fully patched SP 3 thinkpad.

what's the dilly? seems like there's a huge memory leak issue. so ableton...what am i supposed to do with this shiny new expensive music production software i just bought?

please advise...............

thanks!
