When I first read this thread this morning I wanted to state just this, but didn't want to step on anyone's toes. I mean, techno soundtracks, that's one thing, but "electronic"? Just about everyone in the contemporary soundtrack world has used Theremin and amplification means of one sort or another. One of my favorite soundtracks of all time was mentioned and a good deal of the music within it is largely synthesizer work.

Although most of the score to There Will Be Blood was done by Johnny Greenwood, a couple of the more striking moments of the film contain music by other composers, most notably the third movement from Brahms's Violin Concerto op. 77, and Pärt's Fratres arranged for cello and piano.

I'd like to also add that the Danny Elfman score rounds this out for quite possibly the best movie soundtrack EVER.

I was inspired by the 'best electronic soundtrack' thread and thought "not all music is electronic" and remembered Neil Young's amazing work on Dead Man so I hit the New Thread button.

yep. he's got the elf man...which is always quality... a true master as well
there's a great documentary about him I saw on youtube a whiles back...

I think the Prince album is highly underrated though...ok a couple of tracks are lame..
but the rest are mindblowing..
it kinda marks the end of an era for him as well...soundwise...
after that ...it was NPG time...

it's not really a movie as such ,

but i like a hell lot of what lalo shiffrin composed for movies.

Carnival of Souls (1962), USA -a great spooky featuring an eerie organ score by Gene Moore.

Valerie and Her Week Of Wonders (Valerie a týden divu) (1970) Czechoslovakia -wonderful fairy tale-like film with a delightful acoustic soundtrack by Lubos Fiser & Jan Klusak.

Bride of Frankenstein (1935, USA -one of the greatest films of the 1030's with a superlative score by Franz Waxman. Stands in contrast to the original Frankenstein (1931) which had no score.

These also happen to be my three favorite films of all time.
