Ot: Do You think America is Headed towards violence?

During the 9/12 rallies there were alot of impassioned people out, it was interesting that the media focused on whether crowds were big or small instead of that whether big or small people were out there unified in their beliefs and alot of those beliefs were less than peaceful.

What is interesting about the 9/12 march, to me, was that they were marching against "corruption" apparently?

Considering we just finished 8 years of the most criminal administration in the history of our nation it raises the question...

Where the hell have these people been?

I read reports that people were carrying signs reading "no matter what I write on this sign you'll still call me a racist"

Now why on earth would anyone call you a racist?

9 months into the first term of the nations first black president and the right is, NOW, suddenly organizing and marching against corruption?

Please, cry me a Fing river... at least have the balls to admit where you really stand.

We are definitely "heading towards violence". There's going to be a war.

I think this is the first time since the civil rights era that mainstream political represenatives have alligned themselves with a radical protest movement.

and we don't even teach unity in our schools.

some people even have the nerve to talk about what other countries do when facing these problems often I hear remarks like 'they don't teach unity in (insert muslim country)' like that's some kind of reason for

I would disagree. What the country needs to learn is to appreciate the point of view of the side they disagree with.

There are a lot of raw emotions that the right wing commentators in the media are trying to foment. It is extremely easy for non-right wing people to tune out right wing commentators because their artifice is so obvious. and that makes the commentators angry, because they are hugely self-important and need ratings. So they ratchet up the controversy. At the same time the right wingers cannot avoid the voice of the current moderate-to-left prevailing winds, so they cling to the right wing commentators.

What I'm saying is that the people who should be making cogent points about their philosophies and stepping up to valid debate are instead choosing to play on people's sentiments. You can debate a point and not have respect, and walk away never having come together. [edit] but you can at least make some sense with your points, whether about healthcare or use of military force.

But the political right is not doing that very effectively, and you can get the impression they *would* rather start a war rather than admit they might have been and may still be very wrong about some things: if the economy gets any better, they will be even more out of luck politically, so they will play whatever dirty tricks they can to avoid political extinction.

before I go though, I see what you're saying they already seem desperate it's like they used to act like they weren't into all of that divisive stuff just a few months ago and now it's like they don't even care
