Project 5 had it's own serious hardcore fanboys who were crushed when they found out it's development was over. I used P5 before I learned about Live, and in my opinion, it was Cakewalk's attempt at duplicating Live.

Even now with Sonar 8.5, some of the users are asking for features that the new Groove Matrix can't deliver, but are common in Live:

This is why it is essential that Ableton get their session view quirks worked out, rewrite or no.

thats just what windows did to the the mac os... and we all know what happened there.

Sonar keeps improving the maxtrix view features with 8.5.2:
