I think I sat next to that missile in a Digital Imaging class I took in college.

Competition is rough. Its been getting harder and harder for graphic designers to get jobs over the last few years. Especially if they have warheads.

Not if they don't work right. When they lose stability they go into a spiral, chasing their tail.

...uhh yea... that example sure convinces me...I can now see how an of control missile formed a perfect spiral in the sky, then turned green and shot out from the centre of the spiral causing another spiral. :| if you look above at those posted images, the spiral is perfectly formed meaning whatever it was was stationary in the sky

also, if you watch the spiral video you see the spiral dissapate from the center out towards the outside also, leaving a black cirle like a black hole. If missiles could do stuff like this, you'd think the fireworks companies would be all over this.

Or maybe thats what it was, some new top secret fireworks

You know what I'd believe this about it being a rocket if it weren't for the fact the "black hole" thing in the middle forms WAAAAAY too quickly, thats not natural dissipation. Plus its a completely perfect spiral. Whatever it was, it was at least beautiful

anyway check the bbc report about 13 seconds in

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8406633.stm

Thats not natural by my standards

edit: although looking again it could have been the rocket exploding and clearing the leftover emissions

As far as i can make out the following happened.

Rocket misfired and created the rings, the sun is peaking through the clouds at the bottom of the picture and illuminating the fuel emission and then the rocket explodes and dissipates much of the spiral. You guys should go over to the conspiracy forums. Flipping epic madness over there. ITS CERN!! ITS THE 2nd COMING, PROJECT BLUEBEAM, THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!!

argh but those rings really are too perfect.....plus if its a rocket of somekind, surely it would be big fucking news the russians are test firing ICBMS? no? shit who knows.

I found the excuse of a Russian Rocket to be straight out of a bad scifi movie, lol.

that's what rockets do when they lose control.

Yes. They are perfect. A tad different than the other rocket spiral shots, lol.

And what is that light in the center? Is that still the rocket tail?

It's actually like a beautiful work of art in the sky. Be cool if it was purposefully man made...

I dont think one rocket can create two tails with totally trajectories.

Yes, the mathematics of rocketry ARE beautiful. Read Gravity's Rainbow. ;)

To be fair that pic is really bad evidence of it being a rocket. the rings on the russian "rocket" are perfect in every way. Maybe it is maybe it isn't, but the evidence presented that its a rocket looks nothing like it apart from a vague similarity.

Actually, that would be pretty ideal if the goal was dispersion of a biological, chemical, or nano agent into the atmosphere. Just thinking out loud here.
