something which wont be easy to do on a ipad. the fact the objects are self aware and interect is something i havent seen on ipod/iphone or ipad, maybe im looking in the wrong places but its those features that put the lemur above the ipad IMO

That's pure software at work. There's no special sciFi quantum device inside the Lemur that's making that happen. Nothing. Now, the software may require more processing power than the iPad or HP Tablet is capable of, but there's absolutely no way to prove that at this time. And even if right now they weren't powerful enough, how long is that going to last?

So beyond the multi touch screen tech, which is soon to be available on pretty much every friggin device in the world so it's hardly 'unique' any longer, what the Lemur is about is an interesting set of tools via the software. Without the software it's a touchscreen residing in a well built box. Zzzz. Anyone who thinks the value of the Lemur still resides in the screen or case is fooling themselves. Shit, how long before someone starts offering a durable gig case/stand for the iPad? And the software? Some of features are unique, most are being duplicated right now for iPad apps. And the unique ones? They'll be out soon enough.

i dont have any idea what tone deft is talking about cpus and gpus or whatever, its just a osc controller(midi too?). if anything the lemur will put more strain on your system because you have to run extra software to use it.

Dude. omfg. The software is contained WITHIN the Lemur. Go to the JazzM website and LEARN ffs. lol. The onboard CPU/GPU is vital to the Lemur. The software has some interesting stuff including physics modeling, and that requires cpu/gpu power - which the Lemur provides so that your laptop doesn't have to....

Heavy? OSC is lightweight to implement & bandwidth needed to send a pile of OSC data bidirectionally is relatively low compared to streaming video for example.
