Me too, never heard of him. Today I found Hagen Rether.
You see, before you ordeal, one has to inform oneselves.
There's funny people everywhere, like there is gay people everywhere.
Has nothing to do with race or religion.
Cultures differ, but I'm sure you can hear good jokes in North Korea as well.

Don't really know about the comedy club scene but I saw this once and felt a small amount of mirth.

Really wonderful pic actually, if you don't know about John Heartfield then you're in for a treat.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Heartfield
Dada artist, who did arguably the best anti nazi art coming from Germany during their rise.
Scary, sure, but heartwarming that there was that level of dissent and with great collages too!
Don't know what you two are arguing about, but damn if Heartfield wasn't a great collage artist, this example isn't near his best.

If they're as funny in German as they are in english, I bet it's a really healthy scene.

Hey very cool, I was pretty stunned when a friend of mine brought home a whole book of his anti nazi posters from the 30's.
I love his stuff man, just sooo dammed good! He's one of my all time favorite artists, so if other people get into it, I'm happy.
Sort of fits into the topic, this is german political satire, and some of the best ever done IMO.

although they ridicule Hitler and the Nazis.. it's hard for me to see this work as satire...
his posters/montages...looks more like scary warnings of hell on earth..more than anything else
btw....found some book covers he did as well...nice to see the slightly less disturbing side..

I first found them in a book I bought myself a couple of decades ago:

Of course they were warnings, what you think, the guy was joking?
And you think Arnie Dinnerjacket is joking too ?
