they don't.

they didn't

in the case of the Beastie Boys their roots are punk. we know them as hip-hop because License to Ill (their first album) was considered hip hop and since then so are they.

nobody said they had to, who cares?

there's a whole album of new music from a classic band and a 30 minute video to discuss, why bother with a pedantic beat to death side topic?

Gave a few tracks a listen this morning. The rapping sounds too buried in reverb or other effects to my ears, and too low in the mix overall.

Damnit, I miss the days when I could just listen to music and not analyze the production. :x

So what kind of kickbacks do artists get for endorsing software?

interesting just how much track order makes a difference

when I bought this album I burned it to a CD and listened to it in the car a few times, then it kind of grated on me

but I just now figured out that the iTunes playlist I burned it from was all in the wrong order, and just listening to it now in the right order and it's a whole different album

In fact it's about 1000 times better. Wicked album.

^^
that there deserves a thread of it's own..

as I see it ..
an album is simply a container for tracks..
the order of the songs is determined by the artist..
and therefore.. crucial for the "experience"..

so yeah.. "shuffling" an album.. you lose something..
