If you could install just what you need to your system, it would be great to have a contiously updated library on a seperate instaler drive. Nice to bring it on the road, etc. In case you actually could suddenly need like 100gigs of piano sounds. Without having to use lots of DVDs and internet conection. My laptop doesnt have an optical drive.
Especially on my laptop, I do NOT want 240gb of extra weight.
That said, drives are super cheep now. Can get a terrabyte for €50 over here!
Pretty soon im going to upgrade the laptop, desktop, and external backup drives.
NI Komplete 8 is coming!
Re: NI Komplete 8 is coming!
no...not in this case ...headquest wrote:If you could run Komplete 8 Ultimate directly from the supplied USB2 hardware drive, I would probably go for it, but apparently you have to install the entire 240gb on your computer, then tuck the supplied external drive neatly away on a shelf somewhere... that seems to me a missed opportunity, or to put it another way a lost customer for NI. I want to expand my arsenal and start using more VSTs, but for that money I could buy Alchemy, Zebra, ACE, and the fabfilter effects. I think I would ultimately go with quality, not just quantity. NI seems to be selling quantity at this point.
there isn't a function of quality vs. quantity ...
no one here can argue against the quality of NI products
they are the cream of the crop ...top notch stuff
buying all that other stuff will not bring you more quality ...
...more focus...meh..maybe..
I still consider Live and Komplete..
to be the best purchases I've made in the audio software realm...
(and I've had to install 90+gb from DVDs!!)
bummer ..but still worth it..
