I don't think it would be boring if you did short movies that went straight to the point and skipped the discovery phase. These would be regular tutorials, I suppose.

Not actually. I used to make patches "traditionally". But now it's done with a patch randomizer i made with bidule because i usually get the sound i need when doing a track. And those patches change during the coarse of the track.

So you see and hear loads of parameters jumping around. Till there is something "sculptable". Then i finish the patch off and save it. Randomize again and on to the next one.

There's really not allot to teach about the operator. Because it's so simple once you get the hang of it.

I'm interesting in what you are doing with Bidule. I'm sure others are as well.

Don't sell yourself short man. I, for one, would be interested in watching some video of the patch making process. But that's just me.

Would be a good idea. There's an AA group in NYC, conducted by Kyle, M-Audio's east coast rep, but I don't see why we couldn't do something in New Haven and invite the RI users down, too.

Here's a video on how to set up a patch randomzier.
It works like this:
2 midi tracks. one with an operator. the other to send messages.
Midi track 2 sends note's to bidule that get converted to cc messages.
Note velocity is the value of the cc. I use the computer keyboard for this example.

Notice that i needed to include a message filter for the note off message. Thats because i dont want the cc value to go to zero at note off.

I know it's big. just download it so you can resize.

AdamJay wrote:rtopia, Summer NAMM is July 22 - 24, which doesn't really line up with our "First tuesday of the month" schedule for the User Group.

But i think that if there is enough interest here, and say at least 25 people RSVP saying they'd like to be there and plan to be here that weekend, we could do a special occasion Live User Group meeting in Indy around that date. i think i could have it arranged and even find a larger place to do it. We could go with a date that fits better with people's travel schedules, etc.

So, why don't you start a new thread to see who is planning on coming to Indy during Summer NAMM, and we can arrange a meeting from there, k?
AdamJay - done...

If anyone wants to hook up in Indy please visit my thread and say: "Aye"

(I'll also accept "owwww..." for those of you on the Cameo tip)

And we should definitely stream it via iSight. I don't think the abbey would mind us dominating their bandwidth for a few hours... hehe.
Just record the damn thing and throw it online to be viewed at any time.
Imagine videos popping up from all corners of the world.
Another thing i would enjoy to see is video tutorials of "pro" audio tricks done in Live.
I've been thinking of recording video and sound of the process of making patches for the operator. But that would probably be boring.
Boring!!! I think not my friend!! These videos would be admired by everyone on here who crave tips like this. You would be a legend if you did it imo :D

I'm on it
Figuring it would be a nice follow-up on those bidule tutorials in the tips and tricks section.
I also bet that people would love to see that you don't need a degree in math to program the operator.

the video i posted earlier will be posted in the tips section tomorrow.
I'm adding text to it, so you know what i'm doing.

Then i'll make a video of the patch randomizer at work and creation of multi-fx patches.

Maybe Conny should do some bidule tutorials. I think he's building a time machine with that app. I'm more into the midi side of bidule. but there are allot of sonic possibility's too.
With all the stuff you can do with Live and beyond. I really start to think i should add a donation banner to my signature

I'm just making this stuff up as i go along. I'm learning this step by step, just like most of you. This is a FORUM. You may see it as a gathering of geeks. I see it as a gathering like the greeks. Sharing knowledge is the whole point of being here imo.
With that knowledge, making music stays fun every day.

Oh 2k-bjorn, thanks for that!
I don't have you energy! Ideas but it slips away...
But my feeling is that a Love/Bidule conspiracy is an upcoming thing.
