Well IMO it's at least cheesy. And I'm talking specifically about using the Scale device in order to "play" keyboard parts into Live (especially live). That's pretty cheesy. If you're at that point I'm thinking why even play at all? Just draw in notes. Of course if you don't have a grasp of fundamental musical concepts then you might very well just be "painting" in whatever notes without knowing what's actually happening. But the technology has made it possible for people who aren't musicians to make music. We just have to accept that and not take it personally. My guess is most music made this way isn't going to be very interesting anyway, but that's ultimately in the ear of the "be-hearer."

When it comes to using Scale for generative music and algorithmic composition I'm personally all for that kind of stuff.

Personally, I think using any synth presets, even as starting points, and definitely any of the sample and patch libraries from places like Loopmasters is cheesy. (i could also argue in the opposite direction if I wanted to depending on context). But my point earlier was that if someone comes on here and asks which ones people use or where to get them etc, answering that they are a crutch or cheesy is entirely beside the point.

On the other hand if someone comes on and asks "what do people think about using chord or scale or loopmasters?" etc then such opinions become more relevant.

No, the mistake was thinking that a direct and specific question that didnt ask for opinions warranted personal opinions that are intended to ruffle feathers. Thats called trolling.

If someone starts a thread asking about common Gospel chord progressions and song structures or whatever and someone answers that Christianity is bad or religion is a crutch, thats either trolling or just plain thick.

Its about being able to follow logic and syntax. Not moderating.

But I guess since the answers to my actual question have already been given, there is no point in really reading it anymore.

It's beside your point. We can't draconically enforce some rigid adherence to the topic of the original post with no flexibility for related discussion. Discussions are going to grow on an internet forum.
