OK H20,
I'll up the stupidity stakes
I was one of the ridiculously impatient 'trail blazers' of purchasing Live 9.
Of course I expected problems, and I know this has happened to a few people....
Got through the process of buying a Live 9 licence & had my credit card transaction approved and waiting in great anticipation as I was redirected to the download section......
then
BAM !! Abe site down

( although I expected this to happen at some point, this was a pretty bad time for it to hit the wall )
OK, so the time the site came up, I had 1 item in my cart, but there was no way of downloading L9

It wasn't showing up in my account details & if I went through the shop again, I knew I'd be charged twice.
I sent an email to customer support, who informed me that the money would not be taken out of my account & that I could go through the shopping process when the site was working properly.
( At that stage, it wasn't showing up on my credit card. It usually takes some time to anyway )
So I went back to the shop & after a few crashes, I was able to purchase & download Live 9

Oh the joy !!! Until both transactions hit my account. Yes, I have paid for it
twice
I know it will be sorted, as I do have trust & confidence in Ableton the company, but is still pretty frustrating to go through this shit.
I know some people are reading all the slanging off & issues early Live 9 converts are having & getting a good laugh. We are helping iron out problems to make the experience a smooth ride for those with more patience than us. Fucking fence sitters !!
I have never had so much fun

Yes 50 Euros looks like it's too much.
However, the download time of that amount of data on a slow connection will be very boring.
I estimate that it will take all my life to download all that stuff.
If you look at Time as value and energy you spend to keep your laptop and network up for a whole
day or more then 50 Euros albeit still not cheap look a little more reasonable.
What I do not get is that this digital distribution thing never takes into account the slow connection
around the world. Not everybody is on a T1...

after all the support and positive spin i gave, while mind wrestling with your disgruntled userbase about your weak ass pricing schemes this time around... i go to buy Live 9 box today and you want an additional 50 damn dollars US for this.
i retract all the nice things i said.
what the hell makes this box SO special that it costs 5 times more than the previous versions? gold foil? hooded sweatshirt?
weak.
thinking twice about this upgrade NOW. credit card went back in the wallet. you were so close.
Cubase 7 is nice...

If you think that's bad, checkout all the game fanboys paying >$100 for "Collectors Edition" game boxes. Even after they paid for normal games.
If you ask me $50 is a nice deal considering the manual is 600+ pages, you get 4+ disc of content and the construction is shelf-able and salvageable for moving. Then again, I'm talking about Suite 9. The normal and Lite box on the other hand, perhaps 30 and 40 should suffice.
Also, in the grand sceme of things, we are being too picky. Not even ten years ago, all the features Ableton put together would asily cost $15,000.
For Example
Midi Sequencer with "Clips" and "Scenes" like Rm1x went for $400, or $800 for two of them considering the average users production.
Juno analog synth was $400, moog analog synth was $800, drum machines(samples) sequncing fom mc-505 went for $400, fx were not available like today, lexicon reverb back them was $800 second hand, analog mixer 16 inputs $300, studio monitors were also more expensive back then, now you can get a pair of decent krks for under $300, a decent adat multitrack recording setup cost over $2000, add on a few midi, din, power, ts, insert, plugs, for $500, but ableton takes the cake...
Ableton + Controler + Monitors + decent mac or pc = <$3000 rendering all the devices above absolete as far as edm production goes, except for specific niches
People introduced to computer production are so spoiled lol

I worked in the Printing industry for a brief time years ago, even back then, printing and binding a 600 + page manual would cost quite a bit...

i just smelled myself... is that vinegar?
fuck. i hope i didn't make all this much a do about... not jack shit. i seriously remember it being like 10 bucks... but i can't find proof.
meh.
i purchased and downloaded the upgrade. take that Ableton!

Busted! The box has always been more expensive!
Also, it's always cheaper to buy the boxed upgrade from a third party retailer, but then you have to wait.

Only 678 Mb for 64Bit. A little less for the 32Bit version.
All the size is in the packs, if you chose to download them.
I've downloaded about 20 Gb so far....If you want, I thinks it's around 50 Gb all up.....

I still don't know what you Americans are complaining about? Cost me £40 = $60 plus £5.99 = $9, Total =$69
Plus they only have to send it from Germany - England
Plus the box is a classic and will be worth thousands in 20 years time.

I'm hanging onto my $$$ til easter and find out what these NI teaser vids are all about. I don't have a problem with the Abes prices, just in no hurry this time round. If I was planning on buying push right away then it would be a no brainer....I'm not sitting on the fence I'm in a lawn chair.

I reckon NI are bringing out a sequencer.
Back to core stupidity did everyone like the new Ableton software disk/manual pouch?
Very slick.
During the beta program I downloaded so much Live 9 content which was - for me - utterly useless.
